We own a pair of expensive Wusthof kitchen shears that we wanted to supplement with less expensive shears for cutting open containers, blister packs, etc.Wow! Pleasantly surprised on the high quality of the BriaUSA shears. They are styled very closely to our Wusthofs and made very solidly. Smooth cutting action and sharp as can be. Nice that they separate in two like our Wusthofs too for rhorough cleaning in the dishwasher as well as making it easy to sharpen them, one blade/shear at a time.The BriaUSA shears are well worth the investment of only about $15, They are so close to the favorite Wusthofs shears in design and size, we are delighted in using them. With a touch-up now and then with my hand sharpening stone, I think these new shears are going to last a long while and will be used often here!

Durable just like previous pair from set

These are great heavy duty kitchen shears, exactly what I wanted. No annoying metal coming out the back of the handle (who uses those things unless you are camping?) They will separate, though you have to do it intentionally - which is a plus as they don't just fall apart. The blades seem sharp and have opened several plastic bags and packages - the curved inset part at the back of the top blade designed for tough things (like bone joints) doesn't cut bags well, but move the package forward to the straight edge, and they slide right through. The handles are nice rigid plastic, so they hold up well when I put pressure on. I actually use them more for plastic packaging than for cutting chicken (or other food products) however I am glad I can easily wash them or run through the dishwasher when needed.

I bought these to help me in my attempt to cook my first Thanksgiving turkey. I have only used them once for that task, and they worked very very well. I was a bit crazy with my first turkey cooking plan, and decided I wanted to spatchcock that thing. Cutting the backbone out of a defrosted turkey is REALLY GROSS (it's all cold and slippery and moist and ewwwww) but these shears definitely helped. I was afraid I wasn't strong enough, but I really had no issues. Some extra pressure had to be applied to cut through the tougher rib bones, but mostly these shears snipped right through. They were very easy to clean afterwards as well. I am going to hide them somewhere away from my husband so he doesn't steal them and possibly dull them doing non-kitchen tasks! Haha!

I bought these specifically to spatchcock a 24lb turkey, (removing the turkey's backbone and flatten the bird for speedier, more even cooking). With a bit of effort, it went really well. I'm sure if I use these on a smaller-boned bird, these shears would positively sail through the job. These are tough and well designed shears. Another reason I chose these is because they separate for easy cleaning.The only negative I have is that the upper & lower blades had a nick in them from the factory, but because it doesn't affect the shear's cutting, I'm not deducting a star. We all know quality control is not China's strong suit.Warning, folks, these shears are SHARP! Take care when using, separating & cleaning or your day will suddenly not be as fun.

The best thing about these shears is that they come apart for cleaning. I had several other shears that did not come apart for cleaning. After about 2 months, they began to stick in spite of my cleaning them after every use. I found this to be disapointing and wound up throwing them out after 3 months. I finally saw these shears on Amazon that indicated they can come apart. I purchased a pair and I ham thrilled with them. They are not only easy to clean, but they are sharp too. I purchased a pair to use just for cutting chicken and beef and they are great!. I don't use them for anything else so there is no cross contamination. Best buy I've made to date.

I bought this shears to replace the ones that came with a Stainless with Copper bottoms Pot Set bought more than ten years ago. Those shears were about 1 inch longer and about 1/8" thicker overall, sturdy, solid stainless steel. They were stolen a few months ago and my wife really missed them.These BriaUSA kitchen shears are a good replacement, light weight, very sharp and we are satisfied with them so far.It would be very helpful to have the dimensions (length, width, thickness, etc) in the item descriptions.

Pros: Very well-made and sturdy, seems like it will last a long time. Blades are heavy and sharp so cutting meat is easy. Coming apart makes them better to clean.Cons: The blades are a bit short and it's useless for opening boxes, because you can't open them wide enough to slice tape without coming apart. I also don't care for the notch in the one blade for cap removal, it shortens the one blade enough to be irritating.I would prefer these to be "just" scissors. The multi-functional doo-hickeys get in the way.
