The only bowl I use; the only bowl you'll need.
I have used this bowl now for 6 months. At first I only used it when camping, but the thing is extremely versatile. I just moved to a new country and live in a tiny apartment and this is my ONLY bowl. I microwave it, regularly add boiling hot liquids to it, and scrub the heck out of it. After 3 months of light use (packed tightly into my backpack and occasionally used when I had access to a microwave) followed by 1 month of daily use, I can say that this bowl is showing absolutely no signs of wear or tear and is a pleasure to use. This is especially true when using hot liquids. The little gripper tab is just barely big enough to hold the bowl as long as you use a finger on the underside to support the main weight. This is only made possible by the cross-hatch pattern on the bottom that keeps your fingers from making direct contact with the heated regular surface of the bowl.5/5 Would buy again!

Love it.
This little bowl is great. I took it backpacking with me for a weekend along Picture Rocks National Lake Shore in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. I just strapped it to the out side of my pack or hooked a carabiner through the loop. It's fairly lightweight and the perfect size for me, as I'm a fairly big eater (6'4" will do that to ya!). I love that I can dump hot food in this bowl and not burn the crap out of my hands. The thumb stud grip is ingenious and works even with my large hands. Does the textured bottom help with heat dissipation? Eh, I dunno if it's much of a marked improvement, but the plastic is thicker which makes a difference and the design increases the surface area which allows for better heat dissipation so it makes sense on paper anyways. I did see another reviewer say that the bottom is hard to clean if you get it dirty... Where are you setting your dishes that they get that dirty anyways? Keep it clean, and it stays clean. One meal did seem to leave a bit of odor on the bowl, but I believe it was my fault for not washing thoroughly and not using soap that time as it was my last day. The smell was from maple and brown sugar oatmeal. Which ironically was on my hand for quite a while that day too. So it seems it's not a coincidence. Other meals, however, did not leave a smell at all. They included a meal called "thanksgiving dinner" (instant potatoes, stuffing, dried cranberries, turkey jerkey), Chicken and rice with cream of mushroom and french onion soup mix, and also a chicken/rice/salsa/cheese mix for burritos. None of them left any odors in the bowl.I intend to use this bowl at home for the next few weeks to see if any other food odors stick with the bowl. I'll update this review to include my findings.I also own the Delta Plates which are great too, but they are more geared towards car camping or canoe camping. They are just too big for backpacking. The only reason I took the bowl backpacking is because we were a group sharing a single pot for meals. Solo backpacking would entail me just eating out of the pot used to cook ditching the bowl completely.

No disappointments here
I am leaving the same review for the Delta plate and bowl. Forgive me for being expedient. These pieces are not for the ultra-light hiker who wants nothing larger than a potato chip can lid for a plate or who uses a thimble for a cup/bowl. But if you want light weight (not ultra-light) and don't want to sacrifice comfort, this is a great set. Both the bowl and plate share some key features -- the thumb grip with a hole for a carabiner (which I used to clip the two together and then to the outside of my pack), the honeycomb pattern to regulate heat and weight and the nylon construction.I considered a collapsable set, but I am very happy with this choice for light weight and durability. This isn't surprising. Sea to Summit makes great gear. Both can get hot if filled with very hot food, but so can any dish. Both also clean up nicely after use, though steaks cut in the plate may leave some light scratching (like I care...). What else is there to say? Great price, solid construction, perfectly acceptable weights. If you want something that disappears in your backpack, look elsewhere, though.Dollar for dollar, a very good set. I am glad I purchased them both.

Can’t use with boiling water. S2s Summit bowl.
Received this yesterday and am surprised. First thing I did was put boiling water in it and the hexagon stamps in the base did next to nothing in preventing heat transfer. Ouch! Too hot to hold. Would have been better with just one taller ring on the bottom like rice bowls have. Thumb rest is cool but is “handed” for you to hold in your left hand. C’mon to easy to have made it ambidextrous.I won’t be returning it as this was a tough test, and the bowl seems otherwise fine.

I like it, it did the trick
I like it, it did the trick, it's light, but it's just a bowl - nothing spectacular here. Given the room it takes up in the pack, I'll probably be looking for a foldable one next. Our guides all used this:https://www.amazon.com/Fozzils-516117-Bowls-Pack-Blue/dp/B01C6HBOWC/ref=sr_1_cc_1?s=aps&ie=UTF8&qid=1528831623&sr=1-1-catcorr&keywords=bowl+fozzil... and it seemed pretty awesome. Will be grabbing one before next mountain summit.

does not come with lid
Hi there! The description of the product insinuated it came with a lid. However, after receiving the product and then after re-reading the product description, halfway through it mentions that the lid is sold separately. It's nice to have a lid to keep out bugs and dirt until you're ready to eat, or to re-hydrate your food. The bowl is fairly nice, but also I saw it for $3-$4 cheaper at 2 different local outdoor stores.

Nice for RV living
I like these bowls. We use them in our RV. They are great because they're light weight, unbreakable, easy to clean, and nice looking. They are easy to use while eating a meal on your lap because they are so light weight and have that handy little grip handle thing. The way the bottom of the bowl is made helps keep hot contents from burning your hand or lap. This is a good sized bowl also. You can pour yourself a big bowl of cereal and milk and not need to go for seconds.

I don't know what I was thinking
This is a plastic bow. It has a thumb grip with a hole in it but it is badly designed and only works if you're holding it in your left hand. There are marking levels on the inside but they are impossible to read in most lighting conditions. In my opinion, it should be taller. It is sturdy though I would not walk around with hot soup in it, beans maybe, but the patterned bottom combined with the grip makes it possible to hold hot food.Fot a plastic bowl, it is quite expensive.
