Very happy with my purchase! My mother tongue is English, but I needed to pass an IELTS test as proof. I did not know the format of the test, and booked it only 3 weeks in advance. I bought this book and the exercise book to get an idea what to expect, and I am so glad that I did! The IELTS is actually somewhat complicated, and a lot of technique is necessary to do well on the test, and this book provided everything I needed. It’s a great crash course! Very happy with my purchase, and I received my 8.5 result in the post today. I certainly would not have done as well without this book.

I'm very happy to have this book as a quick reference to everything one needs to know about IELTS Academic. Being an ESOL tutor, I often come across different challenges in explaining the essence and techniques to approach the tasks, however, this book is a solid 101 when you need a refresh or some teaching inspiration. From the student's perspective, this book plays a very important role in putting all meaningful information about IELTS Academic in one place and in a manner that allows even unprepared readers to get the best of it. Special thanks for the tips unveiled in the book - they really work and help students to take control over the exam preparation, whether alone or with the tutor's support.

This is an excellent book, with tips and advice for all 4 skills in the IELTS exam. It is really clearly broken down into individual question types with suggestions for how to tackle them and, equally importantly, warnings on the sorts of traps you could fall into and advice on how to avoid them.The speaking section gives really clear guidance on what the examiners are looking for, and this is followed by some possible questions with sample answers. The writing section gives details on the diffferent styles of writing you may be required to do and guides you step by step through writing an answer.There are also plenty of tips and strategies for the reading and listening sections too. There is even a full practice test at the end.The book is aimed at students, but there is a lot of useful information for teachers too. I would definitely recommend this book.

I find it a go-to reference resource and frequently return to it in my role as a tutor.I can easily find help with tasks I'm working on, as the book is organised by the four test areas of Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking. I like to dip into each section for helpful information on how to do each task.In addition, there is a valuable pocket tips section that summarises information given earlier in the book, and this is handy for quick revision or when attempting a practice task.The speaking cue card section provides fast–to-access material for speaking practice. A must-have is the simple writing task stages that are easy to follow along with practical phrases and vocabulary that can aid linguistic resources and writing cohesion.I use the Kindle version as I can have it with me online.
