Q: Is spectrum chia seeds gluten free?

Yes it is. But don't pay this outrageous $22 price for it. You shouldn't have to pay more than $8 for a 10 oz. bag with free shipping.

Q: How's the texture on this product? Powdery? Sandy? Does it dissolve into liquid well or does it leave behind sludge?

In general it's powdery but size wise it's more sandy. It blends well into liquid. I have it in my smoothie every morning.

Q: Mine tastes horrible and all chia I’ve had doesn’t really have a taste. Bad batch?

You probably got some "old" stuff. Because the last one I ordered was fresh, Chia has a very mild nutty taste.

Q: I have eaten lots of whole chia seeds and they have no flavor, but these ground seeds tastes bitter, should they?

I'v only mixed the ground chia seeds into yogurt & fruit, haven't noticed a bitter taste. I use whole seeds in oats, decided ground might be better for digestion when not cooked.
