Practical gardening and sweet story
I loved how this book wove practical gardening advice into the story and provides practical guidance at the end of the story. Wonderful gardening primer for children.

Love, love, love!
Both of my kids love this book (as do I)! It’s a great example of a book that touches on the notion of sustainability and yet it does so without even noticing it. Beautifully written and illustrated. A joy to read. Hoping for another book by Stella Fry!

Good book for kids and adults
Great way to teach and learn how to garden with your child. It explains everything you need and how to do it. Spend some time with your child and teach them how to appreciate something they worked for with their own hands. Enjoy!

This one's for keeps
At last! A wonderful book to read with my grandson. Not only a lovely story, but inspires us both to get out there and have fun in the garden.Stella Fry has written a book we'll keep coming back to, for the story and for the tips and ideas at the end for budding gardeners. I just love the idea of grandpa 'cooking' his compost all year. I can almost smell the earth in this gentle but absorbing tale.My neighbour looks after her grandson during the day and when she saw my copy ordered one for herself. Sheila Moxley's illustrations are simple but effective in carrying the story forward. Sometimes we pass on our children's books as they get older but this one's a keeper. Highly recommended.
