I own the D7100 and just recently purchase a D800 (LOVING BOTH OF THESE CAMERAS!!), but, the current "Tether Tool" (orange) cable works, as RK3 reviewer mentioned, uses a USB Micro (same as you use to charge-up your Android phone, etc.) to connect to the CAMERA (D7100); the D800 that I have does NOT have the same port...I must use this type connector (not necessarily this manufacturer, but, this type port that connects into the CAMERA) must be used. It is NOT the same port/cable end that connects into the D7100-they are different. Just be sure you're getting the correct cable END that you need to connect to your CAMERA BODY...regardless of manufacturer. How do you know for sure you getting correct cable/end? LOOK UP THE SPECS of YOUR camera and then make sure you choose the matching USB cable with the proper cable END that fits YOUR camera body. :-) (Don't give up...and please never take just...including mine...one person's opinion/review when it's something that's important to you-do much research and then decide for YOURSELF!).
