How do you control these?

Thank you for your question. Solar-Powered Rovers does not have a remote controller. To learn more about this kit, you can access the full experiment manual by clicking here: https://www.thamesandkosmos.com/manuals/full/550030_Solar-Powered_Rovers_Manual.pdf

How long does it take to charge the battery?

Thank you for your question. The solar cell and motor do not store energy. As soon as the solar panel comes into contact with sunlight or light from an incandescent bulb, the motor begins to spin and will continue to do so until it is no longer underneath the light source.
