Easy YKK zipper repair
I have a 20-year-old Arc'terx's jacket which had a broken YKK zipper. This kit performed perfectly in repairing my jacket. The directions are available on YouTube. Simply stated, you remove the zipper stop on the top of the side of the zipper with the slider. You then can slide off the old slider and slide on the new one. I needed a pair of needle nose pliers to get the new slider to slide on because the fabric would bunch otherwise. You then crimp on a new zipper stop at the top of the zipper using the needle nose pliers. Took ten minutes and this is my first time doing a zipper slider replacement. Make sure you get the right size slider for replacement. Look at the back of the old YKK slider and the proper size is indicated by the number and letter written there. Mine was the 5VS model indicating a YKK #5 Vision slider was correct.

Zippers are not good replacements for YKK zippers
This zipper does not function like the original YKK on the garment. Once zipped up, the zipper continues to work down. The internal stop, does not prevent zipper from working down the garment. I would request a exchange for a YKK branded zipper if you purchased these

These are not YKK sliders, and they rarely lock
First, this $8 product was able to repair a leather riding jacket that would have cost me over $400 to replace in kind, so it's a good deal in that aspect. However, these are not YKK sliders and the sliders in this kit almost never lock, which is not a good thing since my riding jacket is a piece of safety equipment when I ride. Having the jacket unzip in an accident as I tumble would be disastrous. This is why I am giving it 4 stars and not 5. With all that said, I have 10 YKK sliders on order (for $8) and will use this kit to install them as well. I would have happily paid double for this kit if it had YKK sliders. There are no instructions with this kit, however there are numerous YouTube videos to show you how to perform this easy repair. Yes, it is very easy to perform. If anything, I learned how to repair common zipper failures with this kit.

Quick Zip
I replaced new zipper pull and stops in less than 10 minutes. First photo shows broken pull; second photo of End Cutting Pliers for Jewelry Making, Pulls and Stoppers; third photo of installed Zipper Pull; and fourth ENLARGED photo shows installed Stoppers. (Because the stoppers are very small, I added extras to ensure stability.) BEFORE REMOVING BROKEN ZIPPER PULL AND STOPPER, I watched several You Tube videos explaining difference between Vislon and Coil zippers; how to identify size of broken zipper pull; and how to remove old zipper stops and pulls. Two hints: Before clamping on stops, be sure the zipper pull works on the zipper, and second, put the zipper stops in place on the zipper fabric AND THEN CLAMP with pliers. Don't try putting stops in pliers and then try to clamp onto fabric. Lastly, although I needed only one zipper pull, I bought the package containing three pulls with with extra stops since I know from experience that fussing with small parts can be challenging. I wanted to be sure that if I twisted or crushed or damaged a part while installing, that I could try it again. HOWEVER THIS WORKED EASILY ON THE FIRST TRY!

So easy to install.
The zipper slider on my old lightweight winter coat was worn out. I was able to crimp it for a closer fit on the teeth which got it working for a while, but on the third re-crimping, part of it broke off, making it unusable. Looking closely at it, I saw that the slider was marked YKK. At first I thought that the entire 26 in. zipper would need to be replaced, but eventually noticed that replacement sliders were available. After Google finding a chart that listed Zipper # sizes versus Zipper teeth width, I decided that mine was a #5. I ordered this kit. When it arrived, I used a very small Diagonal Cutting Pliers to clip off the top zipper stop (in several pieces), removed the old slider, slid-on the new slider, and crimped-on the new stop with a pliers. Now the zipper works again.

Works perfectly on my Woolrich fleece jacket
I thought my jacket was going to Goodwill but was surprised I could fix the broken zipper in less than 5 minutes.

They are indeed auto locking
Fantastic! The auto locking zipper slider on my husband's favourite sweater broke months ago and one of these sliders worked perfectly when I fixed it today. He's so happy to be able to zip his sweater up again. I was able to use another of the sliders to fix my oldest daughter's sweater too. The zipper stops were tough to apply at first, but it turned out that jewellery pliers simply don't have the leverage for it because a pair of regular pliers made quick work of applying the stops.

Not YKK
It works but not YKK product. I doubt that they are made in the USA.
