Work soon developed into hay and straw dealing which required a truck to transport the goods to customers. Hugh purchased a second-hand 16ft Bedford O type for £60 and his first new truck in 1967, a 25ft 6in Bedford KM. The haulage side of the business continued to expand as the Company began transporting agricultural machinery across the British Isles. By 1979 Hugh had almost completely moved the business into heavy haulage and in 1986 a Nooteboom three-axle extendible power-steered low loader was added to the fleet. A year later Hugh purchased a Nooteboom five-axle extendable semi low loader. In 1993 H.C.Wilson opened its Scottish depot in Motherwell and continued to invest in new equipment including the Nooteboom 60-tonne six-axle extendible semi low loader. In 2004 they decided to retire and passed the business to sons Simon and Graham who have continued to grow the business which now operates 30 trucks and 60 trailers from depots in Elmswell, Scotland and the Netherlands.
