Yes it can charge the battery but it is advisable/mandatory to disconnect the battery from the vehicle systems prior to charging as the stop/start systems have all kinds of sensitive sensors. On reconnection of the battery to the systems there may also be some extra steps for the vehicle to accept the battery.
