Q: Are these shiny and substantial. Don’t want cotton feel.

They are not shiny - they are a cotton-like material. However, they run small. I wear a size 10 jean, I always order size L in leggings, and they are a very tight fit - tighter than I would like, but they are OK. On the back of the legging, there is a seam about 4" inches down from the top of waistband that looks very unflattering. The pockets on the side of the leg "add" to your silhouette. Price point is OK.

No, these pants are nice and thick, very comfy.

I'm about 150 lbs and 5'7". I bough the Large. They're incredibly comfortable with "wiggle room". If you have a belly at all, consider the Large. I noticed that tight workout pants will slide down if you have a belly. If you want tight, form fitting, go for the medium.
