Tim Burton's Corpse Bride (BD)

Tim Burton's Corpse Bride is definitely one of the best 4K UHD releases put out by Warner Bros. There's so much color variety in both the Living World and the Underworld. Characters and the environment have great details thanks to the upgraded picture quality, and the addition of Dolby Atmos makes an excellent treat to the ears, especially around "Remains of the Day" and "The Piano Duelist" scenes. Makes glad to see this hidden gem from 2005 gain a following and probably made a few Tim Burton fans appreciate the film more rather than how it was compared to "Nightmare Before Christmas" so much. One cool thing to point out is that this release has 2 new Bonus Features that has some of the original crew such as Mike Thompson sharing about how great it was working on the film as well as touching a bit about the 4K Transfer. If you love Tim Burton, stop motion, Danny Elfman's score, and 4K UHD releases, this is definitely a must into your collection.

Love this slip cover and steelbook. Real work of art. And the picture and colors look great! Playing on a LG C4 OLED. There doesn’t seem to be Dolby Vision, but this looks awesome with HDR 10. Nice upgrade from the blu ray.

Excellent Steelbook release of a great animated film.

It's a beautiful story, beautifully told, with wonderful characters who will touch your heart. Of course, you already know that. So, the 4K looks and sounds magnificent. If you don't have this in your library, now's the time to add it.

If you're a fan of Tim Burton's other animated films (Nightmare Before Christmas/9/Frankenweenie) you won't want to miss what I feel is his best: The Corpse Bride in 4K. The picture quality is superb, far surpassing the original bluray. While the land of the living is somber with appropriately muted colors, the land of the dead is vibrant with rich saturated hues. Shadow detail is excellent with deep, black blacks. This is a disc to make your 4K TV shine. There's something special about stop-motion animation that CGI just can't match. Maybe it's because the characters feel more "real". I also appreciate Burton's use of some of the old horror icons like Christopher Lee and Michael Gough. The Atmos soundtrack is a major improvement over the compressed Dolby Digital on the original bluray. Just listen to the flock of crows flying over your head. It's a shame Nightmare Before Christmas didn't receive the same treatment. The single UHD disc contains 2 new special features along with all those ported from the bluray. Unfortunately, none are in 4K.

Tim Burton delivers another classic with this movie.
