I'd Know You Anywhere, My Love

This book is so heart-warming. I read it to my 11 month old and it has a special message that we should all learn from our parents: the unconditional love of a parent regardless of what their child is; it made cry quite frankly. This is what I wish my parents did for me and what I will strive to do for her. This book is a good way to share that message and remember it. The illustrations are beautiful. I am not an art critic so pardon my use of words to describe it. It isn't 100% realistic, but very close to it that it meets my criteria of keeping things realistic looking for my infant. Their a varied use of colors that pleasing that while vibrant are not too much so as to be too stimulating before bed. It is a good size to be comfortable to hold with a baby in your arms for a bed time story and also big enough for an infant to hold and flip the pages themselves. There is variety to the way the format of the pages which keeps things moving at an engaging pace. Some have a few sentences and gives time to linger on the images for a little, others a few words. It also gives the opportunity for the child to engage when older by asking them a couple of questions. In summary, there is a reason this book is so popular. It is very well thought out. I will be purchasing more from Nancy Tillman.

I’m buying one for each of my adult children. I’m practicing reading aloud without crying. Everyone should hear these words spoken aloud from their parents.

This is another beautifully written Nancy Tillman book, I think I'm becoming a huge fan of them :) In this book, "I'd Know You Anywhere, My Love," a mother is talking to her child about how she would always recognize her little one, even if they decided to be very different someday. As different as a fox, or a rhino. Those are symbolic things really. What a child might worry about as they grow older is things like "Will you still love me if my religious views change and become different from yours?" or "Will you still love me if my hair changes color, or if I dye it green?" Both questions my daughter has asked me, and the answer to them is yes, a resounding yes, I will still love you- you the right to choose, and your choices don't have to be my choices. And that is the answer in this book, and it's an answer I think every child deserves to hear, but some unfortunately do not.As with the other books of hers I own, the prose is beautifully expressed...I love it!

Best writer out there. We are working on collecting all of her books with this type of artwork. Every one we have bought has made me cry! They're beautiful books in every way. The best books you can buy for a child, young or grown, or anyone who really means the world to you. Growing up being bounced around from foster home to foster home and back with my parents and back into foster homes, I never got to hold on to anything for long. I always loved reading and escaping into books though. We wanted to be sure our boys always have books at arm's reach, books that say something real, that they can always hold on to....even if one day, God forbid, we aren't there to read the books to them. Her stories read like songs, the message is always clear and beautiful and the artwork is stunning! We can't wait to have them all and almost do. Nancy better get to work!

Last year, my boyfriend was killed in a plane crash. He left behind a 6 month old granddaughter and a wonderful daughter... and other friends and family. As a remembering gift, I purchased this book for his adult daughter and granddaughter for Christmas. I knew how wonderful these books were since I had purchased them when my daughter was a baby...Nancy Tillman's artwork brings the words to life--and the word are so very heartfelt. Usually, there is a box of Kleenex next to me when I read this one and WHERE YOU ARE; MY LOVE WILL FIND YOU. I feel these words would be the ones my late friend would tell his daughter and granddaughter if he was able to speak to them again....

This was a book that made me tear up, maybe it was the hormones as a new mom but it is still a favorite 2 years later. I also gift this to anyone expecting a baby now. It’s that sweet.

Simply lovely! I have gifted on several occasions, and then received when I was pregnant, On the Night You Were Born. I've cried several times reading this to my daughter since she was a few weeks old. Then I added Go To Sleep, My Love and that has been a favorite every night for months. I just received this title and read it to my now 13 month old daughter and this may take the #1 spot. The illustrations are absolutely beautiful! The poetic story is so touching and it melts my heart! My daughter has enjoyed these books thoroughly. After reading, we go through and identify all the animals and their sounds. It makes a fun interactive game. These books will stay in our collection for years as classics. A great gift!
