Motivational Book
Show up is a motivational book and I would say it's transformational. It gives you rules to live your life better, more mindfully and with purpose. How do we Show up in life on a day to day basis as a Hero ?The book cover says it's for muslim women , I think that's because it mentions Hadiths and Sunnah so its easy to follow the context if you are Muslim but I would say it's for everyone of any faith. The essence of all faiths is same for me.Naima shares her own life and journey with readers and I didn't know the strong lady I always saw in Niqab on news or posts had to deal with so much in her past. The story started with her husband of 20 years passing away suddenly and leaving her with their four children behind. Her youngest daughter was two then ,and she also finds herself as a CEO of her husband's company overnight. Her story is really inspirational how she handled and dealt with it and showed up in all the testing times.

A motivational read
Sister Naima begins by recounting the story of her sudden, devastating loss and being thrusted into managing a corporation all at once. Through her personal experience, she uplifts and motivates the reader to tackle every possible mental roadblock that can come into a woman’s life. She talks to women from different stages of life and challenges them to think differently through the lens of islamic teachings. I found myself saying “I didn’t think of it that way” often enough that I feared the phrase to be written on my epitaph. :) She dares women to show up despite their circumstance, their personal biases, and inner dialogues. This book was enjoyable to read and the action items left me feeling like I can take my experience with it off the pages and into my personal life. I was grateful to have received an advance copy to be able to review it authentically alhumdulillah. It left me feeling like something was missing, however. The book came from a motivational speaker’s perspective and at times, it felt like some concepts were repeated more than once and at times, too often. I felt the author could have benefit the reader more with well researched thoughts than only sharing quote from other notable figures. The book felt like a long chat with a friend more than it did with a teacher imparting deep insights to her students. It might be a reader’s preference but I deducted a star rating due to it as it was important enough for me.“Show Up” is a well written book intended to uplift women, challenge them to overlook their mental roadblocks and reach their full potential because they are created to do so. With a little more researched and deep discussions, it would have climbed another level and felt like a truly outstanding book. Regardless, I think it takes its own place in the Muslim self-help book sphere and is worth a read.

Na'ima beautifully weaves together a strong message for Muslim women to show up in all spheres of their lives. This is done through raw vulnerability by revealing personal experiences to practical guide found within Islamic teachings. There is encouragement and direction to workable action steps and a place for readers to ask the much needed questions for their journey of discovering how to show up. Na'ima, therefore, shares with the driven purpose to uplift one into courageous action. This book is relevant to everyone and even more towards those going through an uphill climb in the form of adversities.Na'ima leaves readers with a strong testament, that no matter how steep the climb, there is always hope and potential for all of us to wholeheartedly show up in all spheres of our lives.Sa'diyya, author of Strength from Within

A must book to read for every woman
This is a book that every woman (Muslim or not) must read. It definitely clears every doubt one has for not taking action towards their dream, towards reclaiming themselves and boosting their self-worth and value without any guilt to anyone but just be themselves as a hero that they are in their unique way.

Wow! Couldn't put it down
This is super motivational. Its like having you personal guide/journal to keep you on track! Just what you need to pick yourself up and start being present in everything you do. Practical advice with references from quran and hadith that just really put it into perspective. It really does make you want to show up! You owe it to yourself she's right!

Your transition from, God gave people amazing potential, to, I'm activating it & I trust I am
If you're already rising and committed to your self-development as a Muslim woman / Muslim man / believer at peace with references from Islam, then this book is your go-to-gift for family, friends, and your friends' new adult children. Perhaps, like me, you've been supported by Aliyah Umm Raiyaan or LaYinka Sanni to be accepting yourself, truly, and showing up. Then I'm so happy for you and for those in your circles. No?Perhaps, you're reading this like, uh-huh, I'm a believer who wants to accept myself and to act from my potential, to really activate my true self and give goodness to the world including me, because I trust God gave me amazing potential, yet I'm not doing it and I'd appreciate help. If so, I recommend you either nudge someone towards purchasing this book for you or you go ahead yourself. And I'm so excited for what's to come for you, inshallah, God willing. The steps outlined in this book are underpinned by love, kindness, and gratitude. Yep, you get clear instructions on process, clear guidance, small step by small step, on how you can Show Up. And there's even an exercise by LaYinka Sanni included in the book (pages 60 to 61), as well as powerful little insights from other public figures, mashallah, by God's grace.Gratefully, I've worked with both LaYinka Sanni and Aliyah Umm Raiyaan, plus I've been facilitated by the book's author, Na'ima B Robert, through a fabulous writing to heal workshop mashallah, by God's grace. So, for me, this book is a welcome reminder and encourager. Inshallah, God willing, I'll be turning to the book at least monthly as part of my check in with myself. Journal writers, pages 28 to 29 have excellent questions to prompt mindfulness of ourselves spiritually, emotionally, physically, and intellectually. Yay(!!), right?Alhamdulillah, all praises to God, for this short interactive, supportive, and inspiring book, and for the space for self-change that the author holds through it.
