What fitting is on the vacuum side? npt? flare? some special fittings that i haven't learned about yet?

I used standard air line fittings.

Where does the vacuumed refrigerant go?

This unit it to put a vacuum. Not to remove the pressurized system. My ac system on jeep had a bad pipe. No pressure. I replaced pipe the used this to get a vacuum in ac system prior to recharging.

Does this evacuate the ac system?

It pulls a vacuum on the system just before recharge. This is not to collect the Freon.

Does it pull the freon or just to pull the air out?

No it does not pull the freon you need to take it and have that done. It only pulls the moisture and air out after opening up the system
