ALEKO Small J-Bolt Hinge for Doors and Driveway Gates - 5/8 Inch - LM114

Not much too these, grease them, they’re well made. I’ve used them for an 8ft wide metal frame gate for a wooden privacy fence.

OK, so the good things. This is a pretty heavy duty hinge and has worked great for over a year. I really like that it has a grease port, so I can keep it working in great order.Now the issues, have to do with packaging and what is delivered by Amazon. Each item should have 5 parts. The hinge, the j-bolt, 2 nuts, and a bearing. I have never received the bearing, but others mentioned they have. I bought some inexpensive, and high-quality ones on Amazon, so no big issue for me. I did buy a third one recently and only received the J-bolt. These things are packed in a lightweight plastic bag, and almost always have holes in them, basically, Amazon grabs the bag and puts it in the box....needs better packaging to keep all the part together.Note: the 3/4" J-bolt, is a 3/4 10 threads per inch. I attempted to cut threads further back, but it turns out that the bolt waists down after the threads, so there is no material to cut threads into. Meaning, the thread portion is 3/4inch, but the rest of the bolt is slightly less.

This is a sturdy hinge, no question. I am replacing the hinges on an old gate. The problem I have, and others may have is they are replacing old hinges, is that these new hinges have a large space where there is no thread. This means that your gate can only get so close to the wall or mounting location. If they had extended the thread further up the bolt then you would have more "adjustment" area to mount the gate to the hinge. I needed to "Frankenstein" my hinges with old parts to make them work for me. Just wanted to let future customers know.

Just installed 4 of these 1/2 inch J hinges. Ordered four of the 5/8 inch J hinges and paid for 2 day shipping only to find out 3 days later that they were unavailable for at least 6-7 weeks. The manufacturer stated that they are an Amazon stocked item and the matter was not their responsibility. Fit and finish is good. Thickness of the metal, welding and threading is good. Includes a single steel ball bearing for the bottom of each hinge. The grease fittings are a yellow metal, Brass? One of the grease fittings broke off during application of some grease and was stuck in the tip of my grease gun. Certainly enhanced my morning wasting 20 minutes and a trip back to the shop to get the broken grease cert tip out of my grease gun! The package includes two 1/4 inch hex bolts for some reason. I guess in case someone is too lazy to go buy the size bolts they need for whatever gate post. These bolts are a waste of material and unnecessary expense. My application method is 2" square tubing affixed to cement block wall. The hinges welded to the square tubing. For the next set of gates I will buy the J bolt locally and fabricate the brackets myself.

Nice heavy duty hinge (note that you only get one hinge, not a pair, in an order - and 2 mounting bolts), but as many have stated, it arrived without the bearing. It also came in a torn plastic bag, and loose inside a torn padded envelope, so who knows where the bearing got lost. (I'm actually surprised the hinge and bolts were still in the envelope.) It would be nice if someone would check these things before shipping them, and maybe send them in a box instead of an envelope. I want to order again but am afraid I might need to order several before I get any with their bearings. They probably keep sending out the returned hinges without their bearings... (sigh) These hinges are hard to find or I'd just buy them from a brick and mortar store where I can check them.

For My installation, they hold up a wood/metal fence gate. What I like is they are an outside part of your gate and can be greased to prevent rust and degradation to the hinge. Very Sturdy and Strong. My Gates are very heavy made from Metal framing and wood surface matching the fence. I used 6 Hinges. 3 for each side. will allow for adjustments to insure the gate match when closed. I liked these so well That I bought 6 more for my other gate.

Nice heavy duty hinges. I have had them installed about 9 months now and have had to adjust them a couple times due to settling. It has been nice and convenient to be able to make those adjustments as needed. My new gate opens effortlessly with these.

Product was as described. I did not try to grease the internal bearing from the nipple that others have said break off. What I did was to add 10-30w oil which served the same purpose of lubrication, but the oil was too thin and it strated to drip out the grease fitting. The internal bearing is really like an oversized BB - like 1/4” in diameter.

I was more than a little surprised when I spent over $40.00 for a SINGLE hinge. Who needs a single hinge for a gate? Now I had to shell out another $40.00 for a second matching hinge. A little deceptive that they don't make it clear that this is just (1) ONE hinge.

This item is well made and should give good service for many years.

The vendor was great but the carrier did not do him any justice with the initial delivery. Product is what I expected, well made, would buy again
