Digital Grip Dynamometer
Having used both manual and digital Jamar grip Dynamometers, I can say there's no difference to the weight, feel and size. I bought this one as a gift to my attending/ chairman on completing my residency. Pros: Easy button operation, large screen is easy to read (not back-lit). It has the same heavy feel as the manual model, which you want for grip strength durability. Worked very well right out of the box. Nice black plastic carrying case with handle, interior foam insert. Fancy digital features include saved measurements, averaging, variances etc. A digital grip/ pinch set can easily reach 700-900$, so this was quite the value. Cons: price In general, digital will be on the order of double the manual price. Manual works just as well just usually requires reading a small-interval dial. I will rarely if ever use averaging, coefficients, or other digital features. I guess this is useful for serial measurement comparisons. Overall: Very well priced digital grip dynamometer with carrying case, some advanced digital calculation features. Consider a less flashy manual dial model for greatly reduced price.

Not Accurate - Terrible Warranty.
At a clinic where we use this every day for patient evaluations, it stopped working after 3 months and consistently read a 243 lbs measurement, regardless of how hard or how gently it was tested. Called the company and they would not replace it or recalibrate it unless we paid another $140.00. For a product that expensive and having failed in 3 months, it was a complete waste of money. Very disappointed.

Protocol Issues
Although the outline of the product and the instructions indicate the digital dynamometer completes rapid exchange testing, it does not. Rapid Exchange (or REG as it is known) requires alternating (exchanging the dynamometer) from one hand to the other and this device does not allow this type of testing. This is disappointing specifically since Jamar is the hand grip that was utilized in the research that developed the norms that are utilized for hand grip testing.
