Oh my gosh!!! I love this for my truck, no more slamming open!!!! It causes it to slowly open which is amazing and helps with it lasting longer. Kind of hard to install so watch YouTube videos as the instructions are fuzzy but I will always buy this!

Only 1 month in…so I’m only giving it 4 stars..Opens slowly now. Got to get used to that, but doesn’t slam open anymore. Seems like a good product only time will tell.

This is the second one that I've installed and it really makes a difference with decreasing the weight of your tailgate. The first one that I had, the ball connection on the tailgate broke off so I couldn't get the residual screw-in insert out of the hole in the tailgate. I went ahead and installed this one on the right side without issue. I did notice that on the right side of my tailgate pivot point, I can actually tilt tailgate out of the joint (from right side) and remove the entire tailgate. Unfortunately, it is not as easy to remove this shock so I'm probably stuck with NEVER removing my tailgate from the vehicle. This is OK because in the 7 years I've had the truck I've never removed it anyway.Update: 4/22So this failed a week ago and due to the holiday, I missed the return policy. It lasted about a month and broke apart under normal usage. I NEED A REPLACEMENT!!
