Karaoke - unleashed
I have only had this for one day, so I can’t speak about longevity or how some of the functions work. I bought this item to play cd+G discs that I have. This is the true format of karaoke discs. Most region free players do not have this function. This is the only one on Amazon that I found that lists this function. I was skeptical because it’s cheap. But it certainly does the job I was looking for. There are very expensive karaoke machines available $$$$$. Some of them hold many discs. This player only holds one at a time but that’s just fine. But if you wanna spend $1000 more , You could probably find one that holds an entire library of discs. This one is only $35 and can perform almost all of the same functions. The functions for the karaoke microphone inputs are adjustable from the set up menu. You can change the key, set the mic volume and add or subtract vocal effects. I was not expecting that. Karaoke discs also have the ability do you add or remove the sample vocal track. So if you don’t know how the song goes, you can listen to it with the sample vocal first, then remove it. This is done from the remote of this player by pressing the L/R button. They only put the sample vocals on one of those channels. I have the DVD player hooked up to my television with the HDMI cable. This allows basic audio and graphics for the lyrics to be viewed on the television. Your television however is not equipped to play decent audio at any volume or to hear your voice through a microphone plugged into one of the DVD microphone inputs. If you have a powerful sound bar attached to your TV, you could probably make it work satisfactorily. I also added a stereo RCA audio cable left and right from the DVD player, directly to an input on my very powerful stereo system. That makes the system really rock. You could even hook this player up to a powerful PA system with the RCA outputs, for much better and clearer results. Then also hook up your microphones to the PA system instead of the quarter inch inputs in the player. Now regarding the microphone inputs. They do make the system capable of being complete with the addition of a couple of microphones and cords. However with a little left to be desired for adjustability and quality. The player does not have an EQ adjustment for clarity, for the microphone outputs. so the standard sound of your voice through these supplied inputs really does not sound great but gets you by. Additional sound reinforcement really makes this player and system perform like a pro. I will mention that again soon. These inputs art two 1/4” jacks. The industry audio standard is XLR inputs. XLR cables have four pins in the connector for connectivity and lock into place. So you either have to get a 1/4 inch adapter to XLR or just get cheap microphones that have quarter inch connector cables. Those are available! You can connect up to two microphones to this DVD player. This system could be a lot of fun for a kid in their bedroom or even having friends over in your living room. You will need to go into the set up menu and increase the microphone level to maximum and trim down the vocal effects a little bit. Default the volume is too low and way too much eco effects. There’s also a volume control on the front of the unit. But you will still have to go into the set up menu to maximize it, it’s too quiet otherwise. Overall I was completely amazed with the capabilities of this unit for under $40.With the addition of some karaoke discs (cd+g format), you really could have a blast. Video CDs (vcd format) that play on other players do a similar function but are very limited in quantity. You have to make sure the discs you buy are compatible with your player. It’s very easy and costly to make that mistake. Party on!

JUNK
Do not purchase this player if you are interested in the karaoke function or expect the modern convenience of a remote control. Complete junk. This is nothing more than a subpar DVD player on its best day. AVOID AVOID AVOID

Poor remote operation
Remote control required to be in direct 90 degree view of the sensor. Very poor response. Returning the item.

Multi format
Karaoke, the only thing is that is missing is key control or I didn’t find it yet, but don’t look like it, otherwise it’s good for the value, I hope it last for awhile.
