" I am writing this so you all can be better informed about the product you are buying
I am basing this review on the chemistry of this product. It is magnesium sulfate and sodium chloride. Sodium chloride, (NaCl), is salt. Magnesium sulfate, (MgSO4), is basically epsom salt. For one, this is quite a pricey bottle of epsom salt and salt. The second thing is this will raise your salt concentrations, (NaCl concentrations), as a result of having to increase your magnesium levels.Third, read this article titled, "Do-It-Yourself Magnesium Supplements for the Reef Aquarium". It is especially important to scroll down to the section titled "DIY Recipes", and read the following excerpt:"1. Epsom salts (USP grade magnesium sulfate heptahydrate) is readily available in drug stores and is fairly inexpensive. The problem is that if this were used to raise magnesium by a large amount (or a small amount several times) the aquarium water would become enriched in sulfate. This enrichment may not be a problem for some aquaria, especially those using salt mixes already deficient in sulfate, or those that employ frequent water changes. Nevertheless, Epsom salts alone is not an ideal magnesium supplement."I am writing this so you all can be better informed about the product you are buying.Anything anybody says about their animals looking great because of this product is purely anecdotal. Think critically. There is science to this madness - specifically, chemistry!

Seachem Reef Advantage
I have been gradually raising my Mg level in my salt reef tank. But it sure does take a lot of this stuff to actually change the Mg level in a big tank. I am aiming to get my levels up to 1375ppm, but at the most, I have only seen 1200 which is still probably okay. Key to note is that I started this effort to raise Mg when my salinity was at 1.022 g/ml which is what my local fish store was running. Theory is that at a lower level, it reduces the chances of fish parasites. But my birds nest coral was not happy at this level. More importantly, my Mg levels were stuck at 900ppm and no matter how much Mg I added, it never rose. So I read on a site that the salinity level has an effect on Mg so when I raised my salinity to 1.026 g/ml, my Mg levels rose to 1200 with my dosing of this Mg crystals. So before you try to raise your Mg levels, but sure your salinity is at least 1.025 g/ml to be sure you are not trying to raise it above a level that it will never get to. Note too that there are other options for making your own reef-tank Mg without paying top dollar for this by Seachem. But I figure getting the premixed and stable stuff is worth the extra cost. If you want to make your own, just search Google for "Do-It-Yourself Magnesium". Also note that I am dosing with Seachem Reef Fusion I and 2 along with this Mg since the Mg from Reef Fusion is not enough to raise it to ensure my Mg levels are in balance with my Ca and Kh levels which the Reef Fusion products elevate.

mixes easy and drips (system) into the reef tank to raise magnesium levels
mixes easy and raises magnesium, Use slightly warm water to mix better.. or at least for me it worked better. I don't use it too much since my magnesium levels are already higher than i thought it would according to the test kit.
