What it appears to be...good buy!
What a great watch buy! I had been looking for quite some time for a watch that's not gigantic, or bling bling like almost all the watches you see at the stores these days. I'm 57 years old and still have the taste for a good looking watch that's simple, beautiful, functional and comfortable to wear. I also need a watch that I can read easily since my close up vision is not as good as it used to be. This watch serves the purpose. The white hands on the black face are more than easy for me to see, and that's saying something since I have a hard time seeing the home page on my iPhone. It also glows very well in the dark, so I finally have a watch I can read in the dark. The gold trim on the face adds a beautiful style to this watch that makes it look like a Rolex to me. At certain angles, the gold is brilliant. For only a couple hundred bucks, I feel like I got a watch that is worth much more than that. I love this thing. The outer ring also has a gold brilliance to it that is beautiful and easy to read. It is no problem to turn the ring with my big fingers, and seems like it has the perfect amount of resistance...loose enough to turn easily, and tight enough to stay in place once you set it. I use it while cooking meat on the barbecue. When I set the meat on the grill, I set the ring on the watch. No matter how many sips of my cocktail, I never forget when its time to turn the meat! This watch is keeping time very well, losing only a couple seconds a week. That's more than good enough for me. When it arrived, I wound the crown a few times, and haven't thought about it since. Wearing it keeps it running just fine. It arrives with a band large enough for a giant, I guess to accommodate all sizes of wrists. I had to remove two links, and adjust the connection to the clasp by two holes, and it fits perfectly. I bought a tool along with the watch to help do this. If you are a do-it-yourselfer, just google how to remove links from a Seiko watch, and you can do it. The back of the watch says "4R36-04YO" followed by an "AO" in a box shaped outline. After that it says "Movement Japan". The tag on the box says SRP775. I don't know if this thing was made at the Seiko factory in Japan or assembled at one of their other facilities in another country, but it doesn't matter to me. This watch is a bargain for the price. It works great, looks great, and is everything it appears to be. If you're on the fence, don't hesitate. Buy this watch.

gold gilt
Another awesome seiko, hefty at 190 grams no complaints except the clasp is a bit of a fail and the divers extension adds some rattle, very comfortable despite weight and large size, find the correct strap and you have an absolute winner!!!

Great Watch!
I ordered this watch after much thought between different models and brands. I own another Seiko, the SARB033, and absolutely love it! I also own two Victorinox mechanical watches - so I have an idea how they work, and understand that they don't keep 'perfect' time. These two brands are the some of the best values for money for a mechanical watch.I am 6'1", 190lbs, but was still worried about how this large of a watch would fit on my wrist. Thankfully, while 45mm, it wears smaller for several reasons; the short lug length, the shape of the case, and the crown at the 4 o'clock position. I would say it wears more like a 43mm watch. So why this specific watch? I wanted a watch that had some history (I read that some service members wore it in Vietnam), as well as the fact the period-appropriate version of the watch was worn in the movie Apocalypse Now.I chose the bracelet version of the watch because of the gold accents - I knew I was going to wear it on a tan Nato strap, and having it on, the combination looks great. The bracelet that it comes with is decent, I sized it myself, though be warned, if you haven't sized a watch with solid pins, it isn't the easiest. However, the bracelet is a little too shiny for me to wear in uniform, so I keep it on a Nato. This combo is great and lighter weight.Unlike some of the early models of this watch, mine did not come with any bezel alignment issues.Lastly, the watch is keeping great time over the first week that I have been wearing it! -6 seconds/day! So I set it two minutes fast, and then after three weeks I'll reset it.I don't know what else to say, I love the watch, it looks amazing on a tan Nato, and I have gotten complements while wearing it.
