GoldenRod 24" Dehumidifier Rod

Q: What's the functional difference between this and the cheaper black version?

The main characteristic difference that I've been able to figure out (besides the color***) is that the GoldenRod units are higher wattage heaters. Take a look at the chart I made below, where I've compiled heating wattage information for different length rods from Lockdown, and also another manufacturer, SnapSafe, all available on Amazon. Q: What does it do with the humidity it takes out of the air?

The Heat keeps humidity from building up by stabilizing the temp inside the safe. So there is no humidity taken out of the air, it just prevents it. Works well.

Q: Does anyone know the surface temperature

I used a temperature “gun” with a red laser dot: 116 degrees Fahrenheit pointed directly on the gold tube. Internal safe temperature is 75. Just installed the 18” model yesterday, September 26, 2020.

Q: What size for 24cu feet safe?

I have the 18" model in a nearly 12 cubic feet gun safe (24 long gun capacity) and it has done fine thus.
