Q: Where is the pen made?

My first few 0.7mm pens of this type were made in Japan, but I just bought a 2-pack of the 0.5mm pens at my local Kroger store, and they say "Pentel of America, Ltd" and "Made in Mexico", so buyer beware.

Q: Are these 0.5 or 0.7 mm? I see contradicting information

They arrived as the 0.5 mm - which is what I had ordered.

Q: I saw 2 sets of pentel energel .05. one has "r"on top of the word energel; the other doesn't. is one real; the other imitation?

I think that the "R" that you see is a stylized printing of the "G" in the word EnerGel. The "G" is in a different font size from all other letters and the "R" in "ENER" has a colored border around it. The colored border makes the "G" in GEL look like an "R".
