Know a Sicilian? Going to Sicily?
Veronica is gifted with keen observational skills, insight, and the dry wit of her English background. In this hilarious story of what it is like to be married to a Sicilian and live in a small town in Sicily, she manages to capture the particularities of the characters that surround her, the mannerisms, the things that are part of accepted daily life, and see the humorous, even sometimes ridiculous, side of them. She does this with obvious love and affection, all of which endears the reader to her. Veronica writes a blog under the same name and both are really fun reads.

More than I expected!
Yes, this is a very humorous book, but it does not stop there. The Dangerously Truthful Diary of a Sicilian Housewife provides some real insights into life in Sicily, as well as some handy travel tips. It's really a fun read- my husband keeps stealing it from me, so I have one chapter left. If you have been to Sicily, dream of traveling to Sicily, or maybe you are just a Sicilianophile (that may not be a real word) you will enjoy reading this book!

A very fun and fast read
A very fun and fast read. The caricatures of various Sicilian archetypes was spot on. I am half-Sicilian and recently visited my Sicilian relatives for the first time. I read this book shortly after returning home from Sicily. It made me smile and laugh.

A wonderful discovery,an absolute gem
Review By Ron GouldI first fell in love with the idea of Sicily when I first read Il Gattopardo back in the early 1960's,but quickly discovered that there is very little modern fiction about Sicily that is not written by Andrea Camilleri. There are not many listed on Wikipedia, which manages to leave out one of the great wartime novels "There's No Home" by Alexander Baron.Having managed two holidays in Palermo,I really tried to find more books, but failed. Then exploring the Internet I discovered Veronica Di Grigoli's blog and through that this wonderful book. What's to say about it?First it is a novel, but like all good novels it is based in fact and is a bit autobiographical.Secondly it is very well writtenThird it is very, laugh out loud funny. What I love about the descriptions of family life and family events in the book is how different and how similar to everybody's experiences.I had to read out loud, her description of the relatives and guests at a first communion and thinking how like a Bar Mitzvah it was.I could go on at great length, but it would be best for you to read the book and make the connections yourself.I must however mention the criminal activity in the final chapters. Completely unbelievable, except that they are absolutely true and I know for a certain fact that one of the most unbelievable incidents is a verbatim translation from a Palermo newspaper.A great read, thank you Ms Di Grigoli. Ancora per favore
