It didn’t penetrate the clear coat. Will this level it out like it was never there?** A: From your description (“didn’t penetrate the clearcoat”), I’d say this will work for you. Two suggestions: (1) use an orbital buffer to apply this rather that trying by hand which tends to apply uneven pressure, and (2) I have had better success using 2-3 light pressure applications than trying to remove marks in one session. Hope this helps! **Q: 15 yr old vehicle, will this take water spots, etc off? Some tarnishes?** A: Yes...if you use an orbital polisher. I use the porter cable 7424xp with the orange chemical guys pad. Place polisher on a number 4 setting. may take a few times to get the water spots out, but you should be able to do a hood in 30 mins. **Q: Can you use this on a windshield ?** A: I certainly wouldn't because it will smear the glass with an oil-like based compound. I use a combination of Dawn, vinegar, and water to clean my windshield and glass. **Q: Anyone use this on boats gel coat?** A: Without question, 3M has the best product for boats gelcoat. Does not sling at all, it's a very thick consistency, easily worked for 2-3 passes on a sedan's hood. Just mist some water on the dried patches if more passes are required. I'd rate this on the same level as M105 by Meguiar's, and 3M Perfect-It Rubbing Compound, in terms of its cutting ability. I'd say it's a step below Würth's red top compound.For the price, I'm very satisfied with this compound for minor paint correction. This will not replace wet sanding for heavier defects.
