Excellent Product, Allows On/Off of Each Zone
The OSD Audio Speaker Selector works as described. The best advantage I found vs. other similarly priced products is that each zone has independent on/off switches, along with the choice of Amp A or B. Other products have just one speaker on/off switch that controls all of the zones. I'm not sure of the electronics, but my guess is this is how the OSD circuitry is able to balance the Ohms to the driven speakers. Regardless, I'm driving 8 speakers (4 pair = 1 pair per zone) with a Sony 100w per channel receiver (in 2 channel mode) through the OSD Audio 4 zone system with full volume control of each zone. Additionally, the Sony receiver is delivering full power via 2 channel mode and not heating up at all. Great product.

Works as advertised
I have a modern receiver that runs my 5.1 setup and an ancient Sony ES series stereo amplifier that I use for playing vinyl. I wanted to use the same front left and right floor speakers with both amplifiers. This device lets me switch between the two amplifiers, sharing a single set of floor speakers. The SSVC1 works perfectly in this scenario. Note that only one amp can drive the speaker pair at a time. The unit does include a rotary ten position volume control but because this is on the output side of the amp its more of an attenuator. For optimum audio quality you should control the volume at the amp so I just keep this on full volume (no attenuation). The only small complaint is that the speaker terminals on the back are a little crowded and a bit too small. Using 14 gauge or large speaker wire is pretty fiddly and takes some time to set up. This configuration results in a surprising amount of wire so its important to really plan this out in advance if you intend to build a two amp system. All in all a very good device that does what it says it does without any discernible loss of audio quality.
