BucillaMERMAID Cross Stitch Kit

Because this is called My 1st Stitch, I bought it for my eight-year-old granddaughter thinking it would be a nice introduction to doing cross stitch. This is definitely not suitable for a child. The pattern is not printed on the material. You have to work from a chart. The chart is only 2 3/4 x 2 3/4 inches, so a challenge to read even for an adult. The design looks like it would appeal to a child, so I assumed the kit was aimed at a child's abilities. Wrong. Might be suitable for a patient teenager, but definitely not for a child.

So cute and she loved it... Now I get to teach her the pattern.... I would love a printed pattern!!!

My 10 year old was interested in cross stitch, so I picked this up for her.Be aware - It’s really a counted cross stitch kit. It’s not printed on the canvas.The kit is adorable. It has the canvas, the thread, the needle, a backing board and a frame to hang it in. There is no hoop, but the canvas is maybe 4 inches x 4 inches, so you don’t really need one.My only complaint is that the instructions, especially for a beginners kit, really kind of suck. They are in 3 languages (good) but don’t explain things very well (bad). They don’t explain different types of stitches well. They don’t have a great legend. Unless you have someone around that’s familiar with counted cross stitch, most beginners would find that aspect very frustrating.Overall, great value and very worthwhile!

Very nice item super easy great for beginners
