Packed with useful information
Great read! I found the lessons and concepts to be valuable and the anecdotes helped illustrate them. This book will hit home for anyone who aspires to be a leader in their organization, be it business or the military. At a very base level, this book reminds us that we are all people who feel and losing sight of that will lead you in to toxic leadership. My favorite part was around tough conversations that need to be had and that they are best started as information gathering and rapport building before becoming more assertive. An area of criticism would be around “character development”. There are many people referenced throughout the book and I found it challenging to remember who they were when brought up in later pages.

Good book for Leaders & Salespeople
I purchased this book as a follow up to Never Split the Difference and I was not disappointed. This is a very different book as it focuses on leadership skills, however it still covers some valuable negotiation skills and I would recommended it for both audiences. Well researched with interesting real-life stories peppered throughout, this helped me to recognise how I am being treated, when I might need to take myself out of that situation, and also value the leaders that value me. I really enjoyed this book and read it comfortably in less that a month as each chapter is manageable and interesting.

Great content in serious need of editing.

Needed a few more proofreads!
As I write, I'm on page 110 of this book and am rapidly losing faith in the author. There are a lot of missing connectives, prepositions, a couple of spelling mistakes and just not enough effective, streamlined prose. Or basic research. Sydney, for example, is not in the state of Queensland, Australia. Then there's the anecdotes from real-life hostage negotiations, which are short and lack deep, satisfying analysis. In all, the book reads like an early draft manuscript. How did it make it all the way to the bookshelves?

Truly badly written and edited
Doubtless some good information but presented in a mess with the worst use of language in any book I've read recently. Cannot recommend at all. And where was the editing? So many mistakes.
