Excellent quality material, easy to use and worth paying for its excellent item After spending money on cheap plastic compasses this type of staedtler is worth it, a good addition to the school supplies for middle and high schoolers.

The best compass I've ever used
It seems kind of rediculous to spend this much on a compass, but if you find you're using it alot, it is money very well spent. The lock is consistent, the pin and lead do not fall out, the holder secures pens reliably. The design makes interchanging the ends easy. I use a compass every day for art and was using a 20 dollar mid tier for about a year. Splurged on this one and have no regrets. Not having to go back and redo parts of what I drew or mess up a peice in ink I was working on for a while makes it worth it for me.
