Expensive, Badly Designed and Somewhat Disappointed
No doubt about it, this is a robust carry case for a laptop amongst other things. However, I am sorely disappointed with it; given that it is very expensive, and an investment, I am perplexed why the carry handle (single I might add) is on the rear side of the case, and when trying to carry it by that method it gives you the sense that it is going to open and spill the contents - it should have two clips for the flap with the handle on the top of the flap when folded. The ergonomics of the bag (for carrying on your shoulder) make it uncomfortable after only a short period. When you have it set down on a flat surface (e.g. desk or floor) it has very little support, and several times it has leaned forward and fell off a desk that I placed it on - it is not sturdy and has no solid base/weighting to keep it upright. Then we come to the interior... it is not that well designed internally, as with laptops, we all have bulky things to carry, such as power cabling, a mouse etc. and the shape of it (not having the strength/sturdiness) means that papers, books etc. can get squashed and distorted as the bag morphs and changes shape when you carry it; the interior design is a big cause of the reason why it leans over to the front! It doesn't allow for everyday working kit to be held in an organised way (I'm by natured an obsessive organised person, however, so perhaps too critical here). The only positive for me is that it is clearly built to last by the quality of the material, but it is a significant sum of money to spend and therefore I have to keep it and persevere with it - overall, it is just badly designed, and probably designed by someone who is not a frequent traveller like me.

An almost perfect design, and currently the best by far in its class
This is an extremely well-thought-out, well constructed bag. The material is stiff, so it stands up, but it still fits under the airline seat with room left for your feet. It has features many competing bags are missing: luggage handle loop on the back so it can ride on your carry-on's handle through the airport (sized perfectly for Briggs & Riley luggage handles, naturally); magnetic closure instead of velcro under the top flap (also a clip, if you want belt-and-suspenders); expander controlled by a zipper; water bottle pocket on the side (which zips out of the way when not in use); flap pocket has a divider and sueded section, so you can put in an iPad and still use the pocket for other things; smartly compartmentalized front pocket section that even includes elastics for keeping cords and headphones tangle-free; sewn-in strap (you never want to take a messenger bag's strap off, so why are so many straps attached with clips/carabiners?).If I were able to do so, I would improve it in four ways: the phone pocket is only big enough for an old iPhone, not an iPhone 6-Plus or Samsung Galaxy or Note 4, so it should be a little bigger (instead, I use it for business cards); make it an inch shorter side-to-side; make it an inch slimmer/less deep, and add that inch instead to the expander (so you could choose to have a slimmer bag when you don't need the extra room); and make the back pocket 3/4 inch taller so it fits a full sheet of 8.5x11" paper, when the paper is on its side (the pocket is only 8" deep; if I have a file in there, it peeks out). But I have found no bag better.I'm embarrassed to buy a $200 messenger bag. But this is miles better than any $100 bag I looked at, and I looked a long time. If these are features that matter to you, this is the bag. I have other Briggs & Riley luggage and it's universally great-performing. Pay for quality, cry only once.

Five Stars reduced to 3
Great bag, Briggs & Riley are always good! So, I just finished a 5 day business trip around Europe thru 5 countries. I took this bag, which is the first time for such an intensive travel period. I have to say I started to find the carry handle an absolute PITA. Because the top flap does not secure on both sides. and the handle is sewn to the rear of this flap, whenever you pick up the bag with the handle, it flops back and it feels like it's going to open up and dump everything on the ground. It may well do if you haven't done up the one buckle on the side. Very poor design, and very frustrating. If this was not the case, it would still be 5 stars

Major flaw
The bag is great quality, as with all B&R products, but it has a major design flaw. There is only one closure , which is to one side of the bag, so the bag gaps open on one side. Why they designed the bag like this is beyond me. It really makes what could be a great messenger very lacking.
