Very delicious and very costly.
These abalones are very delicious. Mild flavour and soft meat. I enjoyed them very much. It is up to you to decide whether you think $20 for three little bites is worth it. I have done it twice.

I think more people would like this if it wasn't so expensive
I remember hearing about abalone, probably from Iron Chef or some other Food Network show ages ago, but it isn't like you can just walk up into a Captain D's and get some around here. Definitely a specialty item for places not near where these are farmed. This popped up randomly on my "Amazon Feed" - the reviews seemed good and the marketing page caught my attention, so I bought a 3 pack.Only, I didn't quite know what to do with it. The store page recommended slicing them up before putting into a dish like stir fry. I decided it would go well with some shrimp in some Nongshim Spicy Seafood Ramen, and I was right.I would describe this abalone as a "seafood mushroom". It has that spongy, squishy texture like a mushroom that has been saturated in a soup, but it has that seafoody flavor profile that you might taste from a clam or mussel. Many other reviewers note due to the way this specific brand is raised/farm that it doesn't have as strong as a seafood flavor as other abalone, and while I don't have the experience of other abalone, I can taste what they mean. The brininess/saltiness I'd expect from seafood is pretty faint - faint enough that some unknowing person might confuse it for some sort of mushroom or "non-meat" product.Only real downside is that I only had three small-ish pieces that was JUST enough for a seafood ramen for myself. You could almost argue I wasted a high quality, expensive-ish food product on cheap ramen, but also the ramen I used it in is a much better quality than the much cheaper Maruchan/Cup Ramens you get for less than a dollar. If you're the type to try new seafoods, then it's worth a shot. Just don't expect to be blown away for the price.

Rubbery & Tasteless
I like Abalone, but this is a Total waste of money. Rubbery & Tasteless. Tried cutting them thin, still horrible.

Great for snack or cook with mushrooms. The price is reasonable.

Clean and Tender
I wanted to buy abalone for my picnic and didn't want to spend my time on cleaning and prepping the seafood. There are total of three abalones in the can and it was easy to open. I just simply opened and added it to my garlic butter seafood dish. It's soft and tender. Grate flavor to add to seafood dish and I did use the juice that was in the can, because why not? Gotta use all of it. It's not fishy or too tough to chew, I think I will buy another one to fry it with butter and see how the texture comes out.
