OtterBox Commuter Series Case for Galaxy S21 5G (ONLY - Does NOT FIT Plus or Ultra) - Black

I love this Otterbox; it's a huge improvement over my previous Otterbox. Previously, I'd had the Defender model, sold to me by a young guy at the T-Mobile shop. He'd sold me on its durability, showing me he could throw his phone against a cement floor with no damage. He went on to say that he could drop it from a 2nd floor window onto a cement sidewalk also with no damage. That all may be true! However, the Defender is heavy and clunky. By comparison this model, The Commuter, is lighter and the buttons are easier to use. Beyond that, it fits more easily into my purse and comes in attractive colors. I wish I'd discovered it years ago!! Lastly, I've dropped it a number of times, including onto a cement floor with no damage. Plus, it easily handles wireless charging, is cheaper, and has made it easier to use my phone. The only possible downside is that it's got a smoother more plastic surface, whereas the Defender had a rubbery surface. So, I've had to learn to grip it a bit more tightly to avoid dropping it.

Fits and works perfect.

so I had one of these, set my phone on top of my car and forgot about it. drove down the road, it fell off. I realized this later, retraced my steps and found it on the ground. the screen was cracked and I couldn't turn on my phone, but the phone itself looked undamaged! it is because I had one of these on my phone. I had a screen protector on it, too, but when cars run over. your phone that screen protector won't do much. I CAN say that the otter box did its job well! so... I have my new phone (same kind), and I just reordered this box, because I know it works. :)

Chose this case because I'm familiar with the brand & have used them previously. Unfortunately the case broke within the first two weeks, not sure exactly what incident it was, but I pulled it out of my pocket in 2 pieces. I will say, of the drops it did endure, my screen doesn't have a single scratch! That's with no screen protector Overall: great while it lasted. I recommend them, you just might be buying another sooner than you thought but it does protect your phone

This is the third of these cases I've had in 4 years, but I'm really rough on my phone. I disinfect it every day when I get home from work because I'm in healthcare, and it doesn't seem to affect the case at all besides a little film that's easy to remove with some rubbing alcohol. The reason I've gone through two previously is that the flexible part eventually separates from the hard part. I always use a popsocket so I can't speak to how easy it is to hold without it. It doesn't add much bulk/weight to my phone in my opinion, but I always use otterboxes. They've kept my phone safe since 2021 (along with my separate tempered glass screen protector), and the company replaced my first case for free when I told them it broke. I like that it has a bevel to keep my camera from being scratched on a flat surface.

If you tend to drop your phone like I do, this thing is a phone saver for sure. I've broken one over many years and purchased a second one since it kept my phone intact and protected.

As said in the title, "I'm very clumsy". I don't know how but I was born with butterfingers. This case withstands the constant drops and slips. I have stuck with the Otterbox brand even with my pervious phone and I can say I love them each time. Maybe I am a creature of habit, but I've tried other cases and they aren't the same as the way Otterbox makes theirs. I love that there is a charger port cover. My husband didn't have a cover on his and now the charging port won't take the charger and he is bound to the wireless charger. I believe this case has helped with that because the cover part exists. It folds out when you charge, holding up the charger instead of the ability for it to bend when you watch endless videos on your phone. The only gripe that isn't really a gripe in my book, is if I drop it one too many times the outer shell will crack. Two things about this statement: 1) I keep my cases for as long as I can which is usually about a year and some change. Which in my book is still a win in my book. 2) Remember, I'm clumsy so I drop it a lot. Any normal person, with NORMAL wear and tear will probably have it way longer than me. Which is why I still chose to give it 5 stars because for the price and the duration of its life for me is still a great win. All in all, of course I will be purchasing again.

The rubber layer fitted perfectly when first bought. After 2-3 weeks under sunlight and Australia heat, the top right started to expand and the case no longer fit. It still provided some protection but not 100%. Replaced with another case and forgot this existed until now.

Good solid plastic case. A bit expensive for a piece of plastic, but it does the job well.
