BO5031K 5" Random Orbit Sander, variable speed, with Tool Case

Great price on quality power tool. Works great!

This is a very good sander. Works quickly, very little vibration compared to my old Porter Cable 333, is well-balanced and reasonably light in weight. The dust collection bag works, sort of, but is easy to accidentally knock loose, with a resulting cloud of dust. It's also messy to empty it. I won't ding it too hard for that, though, since I almost always use it with a vacuum attached to the dust port. Mine arrived with a broken speed control thumbwheel, which might be related to the inside design of the case. Amazon replaced it very quickly with no fuss, thank you.

I bought this sander for my husband (of course, I use it too) and we love it! This is our first orbital type sander, so I really can't compare to other orbitals, but it does a great job. We refinished kitchen cabinets for a friend and could not have survived without it! I love that it is variable speed! We've had this for several months now and have had absolutely no issues with it. Definitely recommend it...especially for the price!

Makita quality.

The sander is comfortable to hold in my hand, not heavy, not light, the on/off button mounted in front doesn't annoy me. The action is very smooth, vibration is minimal and much less than previous sanders I have used. The sanding pattern is decent. For finish sanding this machine is exceptional, the variable speed is a great feature that allows a lot of control over your sanding. For high volume removal this sander doesn't really have the teeth, it is not vert aggressive, even at the highest setting with 40 or 60 grit pads. The dust collection bag started coming apart after the second time I used it. The dust port is so tiny that there really is no way to hook up a shop vac to it. For the price it is good value, I would buy it again.

Crank this thing to 6, turn it on and get ready to take off. It has near perfect fit and finish and as far as speed adjustments - your not just stuck with 3 settings of high, medium and low, you can fine tune it to any degree between low and high, with 6 settings marked out for reference. The dust collection works well, make sure to use the bag, because the dust doesnt just come lightly out of this tool, it will shoot the dust in a stream all over your shop.

I had a Wen detail sander and had been using it for a big project but the excessive vibration was wearing my hands down. When I tried this sander the difference was night and day. Though there is still some vibration adjusting the grip usually fixes the problem and long sessions are a breeze. The dust collector works shockingly well and leaves very little dust to be vacuumed. Taking of and emptying the bag could be better, I found that using a shop vac to suck the dust out of the bag makes a life much easier (I'd still recommend a mask). Also I'm a sucker for hard cases so I was quite happy it was included for the price.
