Far fewer would add BLOODROCK'S eponymous debut of the same year into the conversation and it is an oversight that is in major need of correction. This BLOODROCK offering doesn't blow the speakers from start to finish like releases by AC/DC and JUDAS PRIEST just a few years later would but neither do PARANOID and IN ROCK. PLANET CARAVAN is as hippy dippy trippy as anything by the JEFFERSON AIRPLANE and IN ROCK has enough quiet organ passages to keep it from being an all out metal monster like the first MONTROSE offering in 1973. Listen closely to TIMEPIECE and FANTASTIC PIECE OF ARCHITECTURE and you will hear anything as doom and gloomy as Geezer Butler ever conjured up in his darkest moods. In the riff category, the jawbreaking main one in MELVIN LAID AN EGG is as heavy as anything Tony Iommi ever came up with.
