Got sold an obviously used/returned book 🤮🤢
The book was obviously used and damaged and I paid as if it was a brand new book. It had old food smushed dried and sticked to the back, as well as a used old sticker nail 🤮🤢. 😡😡😡

I used to not think much of DK as a publisher, mainly because of how their books looked. Their travel books looked like kids' encyclopaedias, and the content fell short of their rivals. But I've had a few books from them of late where things seem to have changed, and this "What the Artist Saw" series embodies that change. Gone is the old obsession with white and shiny covers. This lovely hardback is packed with colour, and printed on lovely thick, matt paper. Aimed at kids aged 7-9 (which is about right), this book tells the story of what inspired Georgia O'Keefe, from her childhood into her career, and provides images of about 20 of her artworks. Also in the series are Louise Bourgeois, Monet, Hokusai, Van Gogh and Faith Ringgold. I hope they add more, as my eight-year-old niece really enjoyed this, and I'd like to add to her collection.

Un libro muy bonito, pero lo recomiendo para niños más grandes, lo compré para mi hija que tiene 4 y se le hizo complicado.

A gorgeous book that gives you a summary of Georgia O’Keeffe’s life alongside beautiful illustrations and little art challenges to do. I think this is a great book for a child who is getting into art, that they can read with an adult and then have fun doing some of the art challenges. I also liked that a timeline of her notable art works was included as I wasn’t too familiar with all of her pieces. You can definitely see her life’s journey reflected in her art and how much she was influenced by what was surrounding her at the time. This book doesn’t go too much into depth of her life, it’s very surface level information but I think for a young a person this is quite appropriate.

This is a beautifully presented book that introduces the life and work of Georgia O'Keefe, explaining her history, ethos, style and progression in a really accessible way. The illustrations are lovely, the historical text is good for the target age-range, and there are some thoughtful creative exercises in there too. My 9-year old daughter absolutely loves this, and I sense that it's inspirational in a far more effective way than simply seeing the artworks themselves.
