## Description

COLD STEEL ESPADA G-10 ULTRA-SHARP POCKET FOLDING KNIVES: The Cold Steel Espada Knife was inspired by the classical Navaja knives of Spain, but was utterly modern in both appearance and materials. Our G-10 Espadas are available in two sizes: Large (12 1/4" Overall Length) and Extra Large (16 3/4" Overall Length). Despite their imposing size, our Espada knives are expertly designed to fit comfortably and discreetly in your pocket. Equipped with the patented Demko Thumb Plate, the Espada can be snagged on your pocket, opening the knife as you draw it - and opening in the blink of an eye! This knife features G-10 handle scales. The blades are made from tough, corrosion-resistant AUS10A Steel - chosen for its ability to take a super-fine cutting edge and hold it for an exceptionally long time. These Espada knives also feature matte black G-10 handle scales. Each Espada is equipped with our patented Tri-Ad locking mechanism. In our own notoriously brutal product testing, the XL Espada was not only capable of holding 600 lbs of free-hanging weight, but we even used it to support a hanging engine block!

Review: I am an old guy and I have been carrying a pocket knife since I was 5 years old (a Texas "thang") and the Espada large never fails to bring a grin to my face and though I paid slightly over $100, it is more than worth it. I just got it as a moving-back-to-TX present (legal to carry in the state). I had always thought Cold Steel knives were a bit pricey for "plastic" handles (sort of influenced by a Zytel handled Black Jack Folding Mamba from decades back) but I read a lot of reviews and watched a number of videos and now I can say the positive points for the G10 were true. It is a large pocket knife but it will practically disappear in the right pants or shorts. While it is large over all it is thin enough that it clips in front pockets of a pair of Dockers ( 34 waist, not "size tent") with just the the tip end of the knife showing, no printing and room for other items. Useful hint, start the clip into the edge of the pocket nearest the zipper and then slid it around the edge of the pocket to come near the seam on the outer pant leg. The pocket clip is tenacious (well you wouldn't want to lose it out of a pocket) and trying to slip it in the lower pocket edge first is like trying to push the pant leg off. Works similar in jeans but check the pocket depth first, some back pockets are too shallow to allow the clip to catch. As to fit and finish it is very well built, robust construction without the weight, good handle texture, no flex in the handle or blade, no blade wobble, and it feels good in the hand. The handle shape provides multiple grip positions while functioning to keep the hand, even when wet from sliding onto that blade. For a large knife it feels very well balanced and graceful not bulky. As to function, I have a number of knives (expensive to cheap) that came shaving sharp, sort of the new standard, this one came "a very close shave sharp" seeming just a touch sharper. With the up swept curve of the blade it gives it a long cutting edge that seems to slice with ease. For the lockup, it is firm to say the least and the release takes a bit of effort which is fine, not an item to carelessly close with fingers in the way of the blade. Lastly, the Demko thumb disk works well for my hands (size XXL) and the fanning technique will work out of either front or back pockets with a little practice. The only negative, I have used the butt end of my Kershaw Oblivion as an impromptu ice pick, somehow I don't think I will do that with the G10 but then again I probably won't need an impromptu ice pick in TX.
Review: great knife bigger than expected but feels great in the hand and decently sharp

## Questions & Answers

**Q: One reviewer said it fit in the pocket of his jeans, how deep of a pocket is needed to carry it (clip is obviously lower than the end of the handle**
A: I wear cargo pants and can fit the regular Espada G-10 XL in my front pants pocket.

You asked about jeans, so, I’m sorry that I cannot answer that specifically. But for my use the largest version does fit in my front pants pocket.

You’ll definitely know it’s there because Cold Steel isn’t lying when they call these blades “pocket swords.” But I’ve never felt any discomfort or annoyance from carrying this blade in my front pants pocket. Again, though, it will be large and you’ll notice it is there until you get used to carrying it I believe. Hope that helps some.

**Q: Question to the seller of the $838 Espada knife: is any part of it made of gold?**
A: No none of it is made of gold it is made of the exact same exact materials as the $400 one that's a size below it I believe a large, but do not buy it from this seller this is Cold steel that is selling this the actual company you need to buy it from Amazon third party sellers such as eBay, whoever else here is selling Cold steel a spot of g10s I bought one here for $220 or $230 including tax about 6 months ago and it's a perfectly good fun night it's the exact same knife you will pay for with $400 on this particular site. Whatever you do never buy from the actual manufacturer they always jack up the price as if it is special. It is for suckers who think that they are better than other people to buy the item from the items manufacturer it's the same exact materials s35v I think steel. I bought an extra large one about seven months ago for $330 including tax here on Amazon but I replaced it with the $230 one including tax because it was much more suitable to fit in my pocket no one needs a seven and a half inch bladed pocket knife that is a pocket sword. I hope I have helped you and I hope I have helped countless amounts of other people who will read this answer and no never buy from Cold steel that would be like buying from crkt for instance the crkt ritual knife at any other place sells for about 70 to 80 dollars when they haven't stuck but at the crkt site they sell for 125 dollars and they don't even have them in stock right now.

**Q: Cold steel g-10 x-large espada has a blade 7.5 inch. overall 19.75 inch. is that what you are selling?**
A: Yes and the one I received has the less textured g10 and the AUS10A steel. 17 1/8” when open

**Q: Which blade steel version is this, aus8a or s35vn?**
A: If it has Aluminum polished bolsters it's S35VN blade steel 😎
CPM S35Vn hold a keen edge but AUS10a is good also.

The classic Espada.i love this knife i have the XL version. As well. Even though this is still ridiculously large but manageable. All Cold Steel fans know about the sizes of some of there knives, but still great quality and usable. This knife been around forever so it isn’t a whole lot to say great fit & finish surgical sharp out he box i love clip point Bowie style blades, and Cold Steel ergos are second to none one. Nice slim handle profile for the size, good texturing G10, and the famous tri-ad lock bank vault tight. I had to jump o n this, because at the time i bought it there were a crazy low price of $60. NO Brainer.
