how does this compare with the longer version body blade? Does the shorter (by 8") version work as well?

I have both blades and I use the shorter blade to focus on an area (rehab shoulder), I find the longer one gives a more widespread workout & definitely a heavier feel.

can anyone tell me why the cxt is more expensive than the longer classic or pro models.

I learned about this system in physical rehab (victim of car crash). These are much like airplane wings and props; they are properly designed for purpose and body type. I selected the cxt because it right for my injury (spine, neck, shoulder and connective tissue and muscle). I am 5'3" and my wt is 131 lbs.I also needed this one so that I could master it and not be defeated by it. The change is design may have made the balance requirements challenging and a bit more costly - worth it no matter what. Sign me - getting stronger every day!

Yes. I am older than you by a few years and it works for me. All the bodyblades work, and I find this to be the easiest for me to use. You'll geta great workout and you can easily vary the intensity to fit your fitness level.
