Can these be used in totally enclosed fixtures?

My experience has been that LED bulbs always generate far less heat than incandescent bulbs. But LED bulbs do give off some heat. A 60 watt equivalent LED bulb, which is rated as to 60 watts, can safely be used to replace a 60 watt incandescent bulb, even in a totally enclosed fixture. But before going to a higher rated LED bulb, in a totally enclosed fixture, it is prudent to consult a licensed electrician. They will know where the limits of safety lay and can easily install a new light fixture for you, if that is required. This will also "keep you up to code" when you someday have the property up for sale.
