2015 album from the rapper/singer. Anderson Paak is the next superstar! After dropping his debut album Venice in 2014 and then being featured on six tracks on Dr. Dre's Compton album in 2015, his star and profile rose. He has toured with Jhene Aiko, Tokimonsta, and others. Malibu is the follow-up to Venice and features Schoolboy Q, The Game, BJ The Chicago Kid, and more.

This is deep, but fun and catchy as ...you know!
Dislike? Maybe just that the lyrics weren't included. Aside from that, absolutely nothing. Thought provoking lyrics, wonderful music, Paak's voice/vocals, the backup singing, ...it's a GREAT piece of work.I actually bought it for one track in particular (Come Down) and ended up loving some others (The Bird, Put Me Through, Celebrate) as much (if not more).

this album is one of the greatest collections of music in this past decade
This would've been the undisputed number one album of 2016 had A Tribe Called Quest waited to release their album, but even then, this album is one of the greatest collections of music in this past decade, and really in my whole life (all 22 years of it). You really take a walk on the path of Anderson .Paak's life with songs like "The Bird", "The Season/Carry Me", "Without You", and "Celebrate", and you get some grooves like "Heart Don't Stand A Chance", "The Waters", "Am I Wrong?", "Parking Lot", "Lite Weight", "Your Prime", and "The Dreamer". Then you throw in your lay-you-down tracks like "Waterfall (Interluuube)" and "Silicon Valley", and some songs that make you think like "Put Me Thru", and you've got the whole album right there. You can talk about how genius this album is, from the writing to the production to the features, and everything in between. Definitely buy this is you are a new .Paak fan, and before his new album comes out.

Cutting edge soul style
Unfortunately the second half of this album is mostly filler. If you cut it down from 16 songs to the best 10, it would be one of the top 10 albums of all time.

Best R&B in 2016 so far...
After hearing his contributions and collaboration with Dr. Dre on the Compton soundtrack, didn't really think much of it or his musical approach until this album came out and there was a lot of positive feedback, so I was curious and after hearing a few streams online decided to give it a shot. Simply put, I've had it on repeat ever since and I am so GLAD I got it because not only is the production varied and stellar especially in the modern R&B mold, but the songwriting is what comes through as the most impressive aspect of this album. I like that its down to earth, relatable and endearing, and makes the listener empathize and ultimately root for him. Its a positive uplifting approach that is very much lacking in today's R & Hop landscape, and is a welcome breath of fresh air and for the price you get a whole lotta music, GOOD MUSIC. Highly Recommended.

Celebrate, while we still can!
Malibu is a true classic; there’s a tremendous amount of relevancy to past musical (and media) genres and the amount of imagery this work evokes is absolutely amazing. I’ve listened to it on a nearly daily basis and it never grows old or gets stale. The grooves come at you from multiple angles: Black exploitation soul, Parliament Funkadelic, Soul Train lines, Bobby Womack, Studio 54, DeAngelo, The Mamas and the Papas, did I hear The Rock?, Wolfman Jack?, ABC Wide World of Sports? Call me crazy, but I even hear a bit of James Taylor up in there. Paak has taken ingredients from a number of different musical recipes and made a hell of dish! So good! Highly recommended!

My go to driving music.
This album is amazing. The diversity of music this guy can make is incredible but he still carries his unique easy going, groovy vibe throughout the album.
