Kalita - 2001 Kalita 102 Ceramic Dripper Coffee Dipper, white

This pour over coffee dripper works perfectly for my needs. It holds a number 2 coffee filter with ease. It is a great size to place directly over my coffee mugs in a variety of sizes and it brews my coffee perfectly once I finally go the grind size correct. It is a high quality ceramic dishwasher safe brewer and I absolutely love it.

I saw this in a friends house, bought one myself to match my white kitchen theme, & have been using is almost every day for like two years and it still looks like new- I don’t even wash it often, just rinse after every use lol. Absolutely amazing purchase, one of my favorites! I definitely recommend, it makes a great, lighter cup of coffee!:)

I look forward to using this every morning. I also have a Keurig and french press. Factoring in convenience, flavor, and also fun - this is my preferred method for a quick and delicious hot cup of heaven. The pleasure partnered with the caffeine rush leaves me delighted all morning. Coffee drinking as a great American ritual is all the more enchanting with this thing. I use Melitta #2 filters. It has 3 holes. I have an electric kettle that can heat 12 oz of water in the same amount of time it takes for my Keurig to warm up. I'll make an 8oz or 12oz cup within minutes. I've gotten pretty good at eyeballing how much water to pour over whilst leaving room for cream. If you think you might have issues, try using clear mugs for a while. During a recent family reunion at my home, how we loved to gather in the mornings and brew our coffee this way. So easy to replace with a new filter and load up fresh grinds. Again - quicker, more delicious, and satisfying experience over Keurig, even for a large group. At this price point, they're all getting one for Christmas as a nice sentimental remembrance... Pros: - It's beautiful. Shiny glaze. Appealing color contrast within. - Great quality. Heavy ceramic, solid sturdy construction. - Quick. Honestly doesn't take up much more time than a Keurig (constantly having to refill the water and descale the machine. Ugh). - Less waste. Use compostable filters and enjoy your cup guilt free. - Easy to clean. Just rinse it. Takes seconds. - Feast for the senses. The sound of the coffee organically dripping. Seeing the hot steam. The immediate rich and sumptuous fragrance. - Great gift, especially for that person that already seems to have everything! - Uniqueness. You don't see groovy coffee pour-overs like this at Target. - Price point. Incredibly reasonable. In fact, it's an amazing deal for the time it saves you and the joy it delivers. Cons: - None. Boom. I really like this pour over coffee maker. Simple, clean, no microplastics in my coffee. Wish I would have bought sooner. Made in Japan which I prefer over China.

Who would have thought that buying a coffee dripper would be so hard? This purchase was my THIRD attempt and I have at last hit upon the dripper of my dreams (as inelegant as that may sound...). My first purchase was sold by HIC and it seemed perfect. Well designed and beautifully made. It featured 4 small holes in its base which supported the filter and made for longer brewing time by slightly slowing the flow into the cup. The problem was that the bottom diameter (the part that actually sits on the rim of the cup) is slightly more than 3.75". My 14 oz mug has a 4" rim and I had to set the dripper between a makeshift bridge made from 2 ice cream sticks in order to use it. My second purchase was by Mecraft. Again, well made. And this one met my 4" diameter requirement. But the Mecraft had a single, large hole though which the coffee flows after passing through the filter. Unless I wanted to go the extra mile and buy better made filters at higher cost, I had to put up with a filter occasionally pulling apart along its bottom seam or fiddling with them to prevent it from doing so due to lack of support. Even with the time taken to fiddle with the bottom seam, a bargain filter also means that water flows through it faster and with nothing to slow it down and the coffee suffered for it. The Kalita, I am happy to say, has a generous 4" diameter base and 3 small holes for coffee to flow into the cup. The smaller holes mean that the cheaper filters I prefer don't tear out and my coffee benefits from a longer brewing time. And its glaze is truly beautiful.

The brown glaze is attractively done (unless you hate brown) and the whole piece looks like quality ceramic. The three holes are not too big or small and let water pour through without dribbling along the bottom side (at least on mine). My pour-overs now taste a little better than they ever have (my first one was a just ok budget off-brand, and I improved the quality with my second dripper, and now this is my third, and I think best/final purchase) and cleanup is a breeze - I just rinse in the sink immediately after each use (top/bottom/sides) and put in the dish rack until next time. I will hand wash with regular dish detergent and a sponge in warm water whenever I notice coffee residue building up. My only issues: the ring/raised edge profile around the bottom holes stick out a little too much and sometimes dips into the coffee at the end of the pour. I can make less coffee or use a larger/deeper mug, but I prefer my chosen serving size to fill up near the rim of the mug (about 1/4" from the lip) for the pleasing visual aesthetic of a full cup of coffee. I eat and drink with my eyes, as well as my mouth and hands, so it matters to me. The second issue is that I wish the dripper would perfectly accommodate the size and shape of a #2 Melitta filter. Currently, the filter protrudes by about 1/4' (which I know some prefer to be able to lift the filter out of the dripper by this default tab, but I'd like the top of the filter to reach the top of the dripper without going above the rim); and the interior shape of the dripper causes the filter to bunch up in two or three places, causing gaps that require more careful maneuvering while pouring. The interior should be a bit more elliptical to accommodate the similar shape of the filter when inserted. My third and final issue: the diameter of the base is 4", and while that is enough to sit on any of my mugs without falling or sliding, it's not a perfect seating for my largest mug. I would like to see a base with a diameter of 4.25 - 4.5." Combined, the above three issues subtract a star, but this is really a great dripper overall, and I would buy one again if needed. Final thought: imagine if they made the suggested/desired alterations I mentioned, and then did the same for a dripper size for #4 Melitta filters. Add a few more attractive pastel color options and I think that would make this the international gold standard for pour-over drippers. Update: I broke my dripper ): It was totally my fault though! I, dummy that I am, was walking down a steep slippery hill with my entire pour-over equipment set (dripper, filters, digital scale, gooseneck kettle, hand grinder, thermometer - even my favorite mug, all in a bag for a week-long house sitting gig I had just returned from) and of course I slipped and fell down the hill (first time ever, in over ten years of going down that hill, so I guess I had become smug about my would-be billy goat credentials). True to my word above, about buying one again if needed, I did indeed buy another one right away. This time I got the white one, a very clean and smooth nice white color. But I think I prefer the brown one overall for looks, and the bottom design on the white one is a little different, and the coffee dribbles along the bottom a little sometimes, but still makes a great pour-over.

Fast shipment, excellent packaging. Box in a box. Real nice item. Made in Japan. In the past my pour over coffee left a lot to be desired. My coffee was terrible. I bought the white ceramic dripper. $15.43. Great tasting coffee! I make one cup in the morning and can't get over how little coffee I put in the dripper to give me an excellent tasting cup of coffee. Very pretty dripper to boot!
