Q: I am a newbie. are sewing machine needles universal? i can't find nex brand needles. will anything work? singer?

You won't find "NEX" brand as they don't manufacture needles. The ones that come with this machine are "Organ" needles, which you can find online. Keep in mind that the shank of needles from different companies can be different shapes. This machine uses needles in which the shank is flat on the back. Some needles (and I think Singer might be one...) are completely round on the shank and you cannot use that kind with this machine. Hope that helps a bit!
