NOT true to size - otherwise great!
As someone who has been an Amazon customer for more than 10 years, it amazes me when people give 1 star reviews for items that are almost exactly as advertised. I sometimes get stuck awake in the middle of the night looking for the perfect (fill in the blank), and it can be frustrating because sometimes you find what you're looking for and it has a thousand 5 star reviews and five 1 star reviews, and sometimes the crappy reviews are right. This is not one of those times.I love decorating my home, and as I change, so does my taste in decor, so this can become a VERY expensive hobby, especially when talking about area rugs. Anyone who has had to furnish a home knows two things: 1- area rugs can change the whole appearance of a room, and 2 - they can cost a month's rent if you let them. Since I like to eat (and having a roof), I tend to rely more on sites like rugsusa.com who have great area rugs and deeply discounted prices. But I was looking for something very particular in this case. I wanted a shag area rug for my bedroom (maybe sheepskin because it looked a little more elegant?), white (not ivory), 3x4, and rectangle (vs. a bizarro animal-shaped thing, which I happen to find sort of unsettling). I decided that I had to give up the hunt for the size I wanted and went for 3x5 because it's all I could find. Other than that, this rug was exactly what I was hoping to find.I'll start off by saying I was definitely scared when it arrived in a small bag, maybe 2-3 pounds at the most. I am used to area rugs completely overtaking me since I'm not even 5 feet tall. But when I opened up the package and unrolled it, it was absolutely perfect. It might not be a bright white, but I wouldn't go as far as to say it's ivory either. The bottom has a little grip so it doesn't slide. It's soft and fluffy, which I was also relieved about since some of the pictures in the reviews made it look strangely thin... Almost like a sheet with fur taped on top. Maybe the larger sizes aren't as high quality? I can't speak to that.As far as the size, I SHOULD have taken a star off because it's definitely not 3'x5'. In actuality it's less than 3 (about 34 inches) wide by just over 4 (3 feet, 14 inches) long. BUT, this company got very lucky that I'm the customer in this case because as I mentioned earlier, I wanted a 3x4 rug. I went back and forth for a while trying to decide if I should knock a star off, and decided that I'm a happy customer (even if by chance) so I will rate MY experience.I haven't noticed an issue of shedding. It's super lightweight but doesn't look it (which is helpful, because I will likely roll it up when I go to work so my dog doesn't mistake it for a pee-pad...).Other than that, it's what it should be. The company doesn't claim it's real sheepskin, and I think for a $44 rug, it would be weird to criticize the feel of it other than it being soft or not soft. I am definitely not an animal fur expert so I'm not in the position to say whether it feels like sheepskin or rabbit fur (and I'm really OK with that...), but it's pretty, seems well constructed, and was the added bit of character I was looking for. (And my dog seems quite comfy on it as well). :)

I love this rug, but it didn't work out for us
The other reviews gave me high expectations for this rug, and it certainly met them. It's super soft and looks really nice. It's quite a bit shaggier than I expected -- kind of like Muppet hair -- but it still worked in my living room. It does shed a lot, but that has been getting steadily better. Unfortunately, we did some unusual things with this rug that didn't really work out for us:First, I don't recommend washing it in your washing machine. The manufacturer says not to, so perhaps that is a no-brainer... But another reviewer said that it worked well for her (and we wanted a washable rug), so we gave it a try. The first time we did, it actually worked great. We washed it on cold delicate and let it air dry with a fan pointing at it, and drying took about twelve hours. The soft backing seemed a little loose afterward, but not a big deal. A few weeks later we needed to wash it again, and that was really the death blow. The wash had apparently compromised the adhesive that holds the backing on, so it was completely disconnected except where it was sewn on. Not only that, the backing also shrank unevenly, so it wouldn't even lie flat anymore -- the backing made little bumps and ridges that were visible from above. The furry "top" layer of the rug is still great and soft post-wash, but without the backing it's a death trap -- it slides around on our laminate floors like butter on ice.We also tried to Scotchgard this rug before our first use, and that didn't work out too well either. It is possible that we sprayed it on too thickly, but it basically just gooped up the top layer of the rug into one sticky helmet-hair-like surface. (Washing seemed to fix that issue right up, though of course it created other problems.)The final nail in the coffin pertains to our dog. Our small dog loves this rug in a rather non-platonic way, and he constantly pulls it up into a bundle for his own entertainment purposes. (Admittedly, when it's in a little bundle it does somewhat resemble a small furry girl dog.) We've tried anchoring it at the corners to discourage him, but his love overcomes all obstacles. All in all, this is a great rug. But just not for us.

Beautiful rug, but....
The rug I received is a beautiful rug, but from reading the reviews it does sound like multiple products are being sold as the same product, and I just lucked out that I got a good one. I ordered the hot pink for my 3 year old, and the color is NOT what is shown, or even what is shown in other customers photos. It's a more muted pink, not hot pink at all. My daughter was disappointed until she felt how soft the rug is. The fibers are very long- much longer than my other faux fur rug I bought at Home Goods. That could be a pro or con depending on what the buyer is looking for. And this rug SHEDS. Hopefully it will stop eventually but I'm not counting on it. It does have a nice thick backing with the fur edge tucked under and sewn, and doesn't feel thin or look cheap at all, as other reviewers have said about theirs. Again, it just really sounds like there are different products being sold. Overall I'm happy with my rug but I wouldn't buy another one from this seller or recommend it, based on the description in other people's reviews and not knowing what kind of quality the rug will be for the price.
