Smartwool M-SMW Merino 250 Baselayer 1/4 Zip

I received this item on a Tuesday and ran the last 30 miles of a 100 mile race wearing this on Saturdayand into Sunday.Through the day I was sweating through my trusty old 'tech fabric' type t-shirts, but after I put this on late into the night, I couldn't believe how well it kept me dry and in a comfortable temperature, even with a sweaty running vest. Bravo.I didn't have any chafing issues and if I needed to regulate my temperature a little here and there, I would zip/unzip and roll the sleeves up or down.I'm 6'1 180 with a slim build and got the M slim. Fit was great, just washed it and its drying now. Hoping it stays true to size over time. I'll be looking to add some short sleeve Smartwool shirts to my rotation.

Keeps you warm but too uncomfortable to wear -- at least without having to wear a T-shirt underneath (it's very itchy otherwise) =(And since our trip out of the Country was extended (due to mass quarantine) by the time I realized it the return window ended. Thankfully I also purchased a Hot Chillys (Men's Micro Elite Chamois XT Panel Zip-Tee) that fit great, kept me warm, and was very comfortable without having to wear a T-shirt underneath. I just wish I bought more Hot Chilly models both for our Antarctica trip and snow ski trip that followed. Good news [for me] is I now have multiple Hot Chillys to bring on our trips ... and I suspect you too will benefit from checking them out before buying this [Smartwool] model.

I didn't notice it was slim fit. I have a belly. Not huge but there. Almost every XXL fits me but this does not. Too tight. So if you even have a little belly slim fit will not work for you. Not Smartwools fault. I love their products. But even the XXL is this is too small for me.

Bought this pullover base layer for my spouse and he loves it. I am a big fan of SmartWool products and this was on sale. I buy SmartWool leggings for my son and myself and SmartWool shirts and baselayers for all of us. We wear them skiing, hiking, walking, lounging. The wonderful thing about SmartWool is that it does not "pill". If you sweat while wearing these, which you will if you're doing something active like cross country skiing or cold weather hiking, the clothing dries quickly. I have bought other brands of 100% wool leggings - IceBreaker, Spyder - which are more expensive. SmartWool is just as good and a little bit cheaper.

I got this for hiking in low thirties and lower temps. It is perfect over a true baselayer. Smartwool calls this a baselayer but I wouldn't actually wear it directly against my skin. This can toggle very well under another jacket like a Patagonia R2 Techface jacket. It wicks well and really beefs up the warmth while breathing. I will definitely purchase again when this wears out.

Hubby wanted this because he wore out his original. He can work indoors or outdoors in Colorado without issue by just adding another layer when necessary. He won't wear anything else!

I love it. I live hear at the california coast and its cold and damp in the winter... this is a great shirt alone or under another layer or jacket. Not scratchy. Very comfortable.

My husband has only worn this 2-3x skiing and it already seems like it’s piling in the underarms. Just wish it wasn’t so pricy.
