Asterix Omnibus Vol. 6: Collecting Asterix in Switzerland, The Mansions of the Gods, and Asterix and the Laurel Wreath (6)

I read these comics as a child over and over again. They are well written and beautifully illustrated, witty and very entertaining. The story follows the members of a small village in Gaul whom resist the Roman Empire by virtue of a super-strengthening potion brewed by their druid Getafix. The heros of the stories are Asterix ( a short, but smart warrior) and his best friend Obelix ( a large, boar meat loving, loyal but not smart warrior whom fell in a cauldron of magic potion as a child and as a result has permanent super strength). You can read each comic seperately and be able to follow the story, though certain characters do repeat throughout the series. I am buying them again as an adult and enjoying them just as much as I did as a kid. I definitely recommend these comics.

Can't go wrong with any asterix. This collection is no different. Hard cover version is compact sturdy and good quality. I had the other 5 already in paperback (which is much larger in size).

Excellent, humorous stories with outstanding cartoon drawings. I read these stories years ago and still get enjoyment out of them. The facial expressions of the characters together with the humor is magic.

After all of our paperback Asterix books have gone through our 7 children's hands, I'm going to start replacing the torn ones with hardcover editions for the next generation when they come to visit us!

I'm not going to review the stories. They're not new and it would be like reviewing Huckleberry Finn or Tom Sawyer...For years, I've hunted down and purchased various editions of Rene Goscinny, and Albert Uderzo's "Asterix and Obelix". Over the decades, most of the softcover editions had binding and paper quality issues. Pages falling out, loss of color, acid impacts to the paper and so on. It's a bit friustrating to have to first sort pages before one can read a book. If a page is lost, oh well...These omnibus editions are excellent. Color is very good, the paper looks like good quality and the binding is great (I've been buying the hardcover versions when I can).Now we can focus on wordplay and comic genius instead of trying to hold a page steady.

I loved rereading the stories and my kids loved me reading the stories to them. Absolutely wonderful.

Asterix has become my 10 year old's go to comics after Calvin and Hobbs and Tintin. He wants to read all of them but they are surely expensive!

My son (10 years old) loves the entire Asterix series as does my husband. You just have to love the European humor. This is a book for all ages to enjoy!

Un modo divertente per ripassare l'Inglese.

Het boek is in orde, ziet er netjes uit en snel geleverd. Echter ik had verwacht deel 5 te ontvangen maar het blijkt deel 6 te zijn. De omschrijving en afbeelding komen overeen met deel 6 maar er staat duidelijk dat het deel 5 is en daar was ik naar op zoek. Gelukkig heeft degene die het boek van me krijgt dit deel ook nog niet dus ik laat het maar zo. Zou wel handig zijn om de informatie even aan te passen.
