This was my first time whittling so I wanted to start with something fairly basic but still decent quality and enough to actual produce a product. I had a lot of fun with my first project and the kit was great! Great price too for everything included.

The media could not be loaded. I bought this as my first set of wood carving knives. They definitely get the job done! All the extras are more than worth the price! I love the strop, and the gloves. The knives are not the best quality, but they aren’t bad. I find I have to sharpen them often, and I doubt very much they are quality carbon steel blades. They do sharpen very easily though(except for the hook knife), so I don’t think it’s too much of an issue. I received a set of Beavercraft knives as a gift shortly after making this purchase. The difference in the blade quality is very noticeable. These are much lower quality, but you don’t receive nearly as much with the Beavercraft knives, and they are much more expensive. My only real complaint is that the bevel on the detail knife is not even on both sides(which makes certain cuts a little awkward), and the hook knife isn’t very sharp. It’s also difficult to sharpen the hook knife, so I don’t tend to find it all that useful. I didn’t buy this Set intending to use it for spoon carving anyway, so that doesn’t really bother me. All in all I think this is a very good beginner set for the price. I would definitely recommend them for someone on a really tight budget that’s looking to start a new hobby without breaking the bank. These will definitely get you started.

The knifes are sharp and thick metal with zero "give". The safety gloves can't be cut even with my good knives. The wood blocks are soft and crack/blemish free. Only negative item was the strop, not a real leather but after applying some compound (what comes with the kit - green color)it did the job good.This should be your 1st carving "kit" for sure !Little recommendation :sand the knife handles and remove the coating , it will feel alot better after longer use. Or make new handles, after all you have the tools now to do it with 😉.

This is a great beginner set, but you’re gonna need to watch videos and find someplace to give you some instructions on how to use the tools. you’re going to want to pay close attention to safety and the right wood to use for beginner.

I dislike no stone for maintaining sharpness.

Good wood carving tools for beginners. Not the best for handling with the gloves. They don't have a good grip to them. Other than that, they carve very well into soft bass wood.
