Orion (an Imprint of The Orion Publishing Group Lt Bear Grylls: Hunt

Having read his autobiography (great!) and one of his fiction books with my daughter, I was looking forward to reading The Hunt by Bear Grylls. As a story it was gripping and the style of writing good too (I’m a fan of John Grisham and wondered how Bear would compare against such an incredible author) so I was pleasantly surprised as I started reading. However, as the story progressed some bad language crept in, which at first I tried to overlook hoping it was just perhaps one character in the story that used bad language. Unfortunately as the book continued, not only does the language become worse and more frequent but, the language is also used in the authors description of what is happening - I just find this totally unnecessary and sadly (as there are no guidance / ratings for books) means I won’t be reading any more of the series. Yes, real life is gritty and at times unbelievably unpleasant but we all have a choice how to tell those stories and much wisdom is needed - especially when there is no way for a reader to know what the content of a book will be (again no ratings!) and so we are dependent on either reviews (like this one) to warn us or ideally, the reputation of the authors we choose to read! ☹️

This is the first Bear Grylls book I have read and have continued to read his books.

Another excellent novel from one of my hero's, couldn't put it down, can't wait for another one

Great series, really enjoyed reading this. Hadn't read in years but this set brought me back to reading again.
