This is a really useful piece of equipment, which I don't know how I've avoided buying for so many years. This beats the pants off of hand sanding, during the early stages of a sanding project, when you need to remove material quickly without worrying too much about appearance. It can also be used for finer work with higher grade sanding discs but you obviously need to be more cautious, as the disc is rotating at several 000's of rpm so can quickly make unwanted grooves in your work piece/site if don't control your drill carefully. Very simply, it has a small screw-down circular front disc that clamps the sand paper to the sanding plate and a projecting hex spigot at the rear that fits drill chucks of 10mm or greater and is secured like a drill bit. Sanding discs can be bought, or you can fashion them from standard sheets. This component is a good way of extending the usefullness of your power drill and a lot cheaper than buying a bespoke power sander. Thanks Bosch!
