Clarity E814 Moderate Hearing Loss Cordless Phone with E814HS Expandable Handset Bundles (Clarity E814CC)

I bought this for an elderly friend in an assisted living facility with a one bedroom apartment who had problems remembering to recharge her cell phone and couldn't hear anything when she did use it. She loves this phone! She can hear her callers now with no problem and her voice comes across clearer as well. She is even figuring out how to use the speed dial feature and loves having a phone both by her bed and in the living room. She is very happy with it and if she is happy, everyone is happy!

Although the phone is described on Amazon to assist in cases of moderate hearing loss, I first learned of it elsewhere where it was recommended more for low vision. I purchased the phone set to assist my aged relative, who has recently lost most of his remaining eyesight to AMD. He also has almost no hearing in one ear and does not hear particularly well with the other. I chose this phone primarily for the large labels on the large major buttons and the high contrast coloring (white labelling on black surface). Visually the phone works exceptionally well. I haven't really evaluated the audio level or quality, but it is sufficient for the intended user. The separate programmable dialing buttons allow one-button dialing for a few numbers. Getting a second, portable phone was a bonus. The digital display is not usable for low vision, and the answering system controls--at least for playback and delete--would need to be larger. The biggest problem the user and I have had with the phone is that the handset does not hang up firmly. It is too easy for someone with any loss of hand dexterity to fail to reseat the handset fully, I think the design there is deficient even for the temporarily able-bodied.

We got this for my 87 year old mother in law. She is started to have problems with both seeing and hearing and wasn't able to see the buttons on her regular phone. This has been a blessing for her. The buttons are big enough that she can see them to make calls and we have the volume up and she is having no problem hearing us when we call. I definitely recommend to anyone with seeing and hearing impairement.

Great phone with good volume controls. At high volume, it’s loud enough for most ANY hearing problems.

Phone works great. Plenty loud. Rings with a light and sound. Love it. The extra phone that came with it was as intended for emergencies and on my nightstand.Main phone is confusing to operate. You have to read the manual. Tougher for seniors on their own. Super once you figure it out.If WiFi is lost, so is the phone connection.
