Q: Im interesting in wood-working only for these units, will they work ? im not concerned if they wear down, all of them eventually do

I never used them for anything but sanding down the dogs nails. They worked great for that. Used it 8 times on one drum and still working. I would think they would be fine for wood.

Q: Will these work on smoothing out cut, rough porcelain tile edges (tiles are small square mosaics for an art project)?

Hi, bought these a while ago for wood working projects. I haven't used them on tile, but I have used them to sharpen steel chisels and to smooth various other materials, plastic and glass (Had to replace a garage window and just needed to remove a small bit of the glass). They work well, but they are only paper and the faster and hotter you get them the quicker they wear down. Good value for the money.

Q: How long are they sanding tubes

Depends on the diameter but most were from 1/2 to 3/4 to 1 inch

Q: Is this any good for removing a lot of hard work like shaping Handels

You most likely need a lot of them - depending and the toy of material you shape the handles from. I think you are better off with some router tools and use these ones for the final touch - again, depending on the material you use
