Columbia Men’s Silver Ridge Convertible Hiking Pant

Excellent, inexpensive pants
These pants are comfortable, extremely light weight, and protect well against the hot sun. I wore them along with a UV-rated long sleeve athletic shirt out in 104 degree weather and I felt more comfortable than I normally would wearing shorts. The fabric does make a bit of noise while walking since it's nylon, but it's nowhere near as loud other nylon clothing I've worn. Time will tell how well these hold up over time.

Travel With Little Weight.
Order these for my husband and he was really thrilled to get them. They were medium light weight and took little room in the suitcase. He was able to wear the pants with the shorts attached on the plane and once we landed he could unzip the lower portion of the pant legs leaving just the shorts and not be hot. They were great since they dried quickly when washed and were not all wrinkles like some of his other short. Looked excellent on him.

Decent product but...
These pants seem to be fairly well-made. I just got back from a week hiking the Superior Hiking Trail in northern Minnesota. The only problem is that the removable part of legs do not have a zipper so you have to take off your boots to remove them. Very inconvenient. I should have read the product description more carefully.

Lightweight, durable, except the mesh pockets
These pants/shorts would be pretty perfect if not for three out of the four mesh pockets tearing. These are my camping pants, so although I suppose camping is a little harsher wear on them, I don't abuse them. Also, because they're camping pants, I don't wear them all the time, so I was surprised to find that it's been over a year since buying them. Both back mesh pockets have the stitching coming undone. The right one that I normally keep my wallet in had the stitching come undone in it the last time I wore them. Luckily I noticed when my wallet fell right through my pantleg to the floor. So, I switched my wallet to the left side, and after just a couple of hours the stitching on that pocket came undone, too. That was the first time I'd ever used the left back pocket. The right front pocket got a legit hole in it (not just stitching coming undone, but the mesh tearing) the first or second time I wore them. It wasn't quite big enough for anything I keep in it to have ever fallen out, but if I kept smaller items in it then they would definitely be in danger of falling out.I'm kind of amazed at the low quality of the pockets, considering the brand and how great the pants/shorts are otherwise.I love being able to remove the lower legs of the pants for hot days, and put them on for cold days or night around the fire. They're so lightweight that I thought they'd easily get holes in them, but other than the pockets they are holding up well.Since the return window is past, we'll have to try to sew them, but I don't know how well that will work with it being mesh.

I like the way they look on me.
The sizes are just a little bit off so you may need to buy a pair that's just a little bit bigger than your normal size bias other than that they worked fine.

Tough and comfortable 👊👍
I have an older pair of these paints that I’ve been wearing for four years now and they are pretty tough. The front/rear pockets aren’t that tough but the cargo are. I recently ordered two of these paints and I really like them as well as the upgraded left cargo pocket being a zipper now.

Convenient and very useful.
Love it and cool to wear. It's very good to wear for hiking or large temp change environment.

Great convertible trekker trousers
Great, lightweight trekker trousers, very comfortable, hard-wearing, easy care and fit like a dream (I'm no skinny runt). Also classier than North Face, in my opinion.I've been a big fan of Columbia since my spell living stateside and while they don't always get it right, their trekker pants and 3-in-1 coats are in my opinion better quality and value than North Face. These pants mark a departure from my prior favourites (their Titanium line) in a good way. The older Titanium clothes were built extremely solidly, but could be unforgiving on you with respect to seams, and stiffness of fabric. If you were wearing a baselayer, then it wouldn't matter. These are lighter and exhibit none of those problems. Indeed, the material is light, soft yet tough, with other benefits, such as quicker drying time. They are also cut a little more generously to give better freedom of movement, without you looking like a sailboat in the wind.

Great summer/Vacation pants
Loved the feeling of the fabric, very cool, considering the greek summer temperatures it was exposed to... easy to washa nd dry, in a couple of hours it was ready to wear again "as new". Takes virtually no room in your baggage, folding does not affect it, practical pockets everywhere. Breathable, takes the sweat away. The 32 inseam length was a bit lengthy for me- in levis jeans, a 32 inseam works just fine, in this one, I had to roll the bottom of the pants once or twice depending on the shoe. Overall, you will enjoy this pair of pants, esp. in warm weather, easy to wear and wash every day in your vacation.

Great pair of walking trousers
Great trousers that are very comfortable. Bought for 13 days in the Himalayas as a spare pair. Wore them lots and they are great. Would definitely recommend. Much cheaper than other brands as well but easily the same quality I would say.Perfect for warmer conditions - wouldn't rely on these if walking in below zero temps

OK but a little tight
No problem with the trousers as such but I'd advise buying a waist size up if in any doubt. These are usually for warm/hot conditions anyway and you'll welcome the extra slack/movement. Zip on/off is easy enough
